How much to have taxes prepared by an accountant?
my dad has always helped me file, but this year i would like to go to H&R Block (or the likes)
approximately how much would this cost? do they take a cut of your return? flat fee? i'm clueless!

i think my husband charges between 50-150 for a personal return depending on the amout of w2's, 1099's, etc. i'm sure that's average.

I think we pay about $140 and we file jointly. To me it's totally worth the money just to not have to take the time to do it. But it's funny that I review taxes as a living and yet I don't do my own.

We paid $275 for H&R Block last year. They charge for how many peices of paper you have on top of their fee!

we pay $375.
Our return has arms, legs and teeth and we are currently being audited so my accountant is acting as our proxy..part of the job.
We have many schedules and various 1099s.

Don't go to H&R Block.
Also it is iliegal to charge based on the amount of the refund.
My boss charges about 150 for a return with a schedule A. I charge alot less then that

same here and it took 4 hours of me telling the person doing the taxes how to do things She wasnt a CPA just a person they hired to fill in their program so you're better off doing it yourself than paying $400 there. I now go to a private CPA and pay $175.

he's cheap (like me  )

I pay my accountant $0, but he's my dad.
I'm sure his fees depend on the complexity of the return, but he isn't expensive.
