how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
just thought i'd ask since i don't want to focus on work anymore today
DH will probably be taking about a week or two off. He wants to take more but i'm not sure if we'll be able to do it (financially) so we'll wing it from there.

My DH was home for a week but because it was over new years he only had to take 3 days off from work

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
DH has been saving up most of his vacation time for when the baby is born so he will probably be able to stay home for 2-3 weeks while still getting paid. He may go back sooner but he likes knowing he will have that long if we want or need it.

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
TBD for us. DH *thinks* there is a 3 week parental leave policy at his job. He still needs to confirm the details.
Also, I am due on Dec 31st so it's tricky based on if I go early or late. We had both already intended on taking the last week of the year off. I'm hoping I go early so he can use that 2012 vacation time for baby.
So, if he gets the leave, it will probably be 5 weeks, if not then probably 2.
He is looking for a new job also, so who knows!

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
We had planned last time for DH to take off two weeks, but because of severe feeding issues, he had to take off a third week (DD was losing weight drastically after birth and it took almost 3 weeks to get her stable).
This time we plan on 2 weeks, but we'll play it by ear. His company has over 50 people so he has the option of taking off up to 12 weeks unpaid through FMLA but says his company asks that he not take more than 3 weeks at once if possible (it's their request, not the law). Since I'm already a SAHM, I don't know how 3 months of no income would go... eek. But it's good to have options. He's going to try to save up 2 weeks of vacation time to use instead.

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
DH works from home a few days a week already, so we're hoping that when the baby is born his boss will let him work from home for about 2 weeks or maybe just go in once a week for meetings if he's needed. If his boss isn't ok with that then he'll probably take about 2 weeks off.

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
This post is making me jealous :(. With our first DH was able to switch some shifts and had 2 days after I was discharged off. He worked the two days we were in the hospital, luckily he worked in the same hospital so he was able to visit. This time I'm thinking we'll hope for the same, maybe 2-3 days after we come home!

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
I'm hoping he will be able to take at least a week off, but we are both retail managers and I'm due in Dec. It's so crazy around that time I'm not sure what he will be "allowed" to do. I might be on my own

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
As luck would have it, DH's scheduled annual vacation stars 2 days b/f my DD. He gets 6 wks. Due to a recent promotion, he is back in training & that screws up his whole schedule. So I believe now, he is going to get about 2-3 wks paid. Not bad & I'm def not complaining.

DH took no time off in the beginning because my parents were coming over to visit but then he took a week off towards the end of my maternity leave.

Re: how much time off will your DH be taking after LO is born?
Probably just a few days. He owns his own business and can't close it down for long periods of time. He will work when I am in the hospital after having DD, then take off when I come home.
