How much of a solid does it take to replace a bottle?
The twins have consistently been on cereal, fruits and veggies for almost a month now. They usually get it twice a day, oatmeal a little after their morning bottle and either a fruit or veggie in the evening. But it doesn't seem to be taking the place of any of their bottles. They still drink 5 bottles a day and teh ounces are the same too. The ped made it sound all great like "oh this will save you on formula too b/c it will take the place of bottles." but it's not, they're just eating more now.
If I try to give them solids when I know they'll be due for a bottle soon, they seem to get frustrated I guess b/c they're not getting the "full" feeling as quickly as they would with the bottle.
I feed them solids until they don't want it anymore so it's not like Im not giving them enough to fill up on. I don't get it, what am I doing wrong??

Solids aren't supposed to be a replacement for breast milk or formula in the first year

Re: How much of a solid does it take to replace a bottle?
I've never replaced bottles with solids, only added them in to his daily routine. Eventually, it does wean down how much they drink, but not all that much. For example, my son was drinking 32oz. of formula before solids, at 4 months I introduced solids and now at 10.5 months he's on all table food and still drinks 24oz. a day.
