How much maternity leave does your work give you?
Mine gives 3 months paid but 50% is paid during your maternity leave and 50% is paid in one lump sum 6 months after you return.
I feel like the US has the worst maternity leave compared to our international counterparts. Most European countries give 1 year!

That is very generous of your company. My past company gave NOTHING!
This time, I work for my FIL, so I will get paid the whole time, but I also will not have "off" the entire time. I will still have to log-in and do work from home as I am relied on. That's the breaks - but I can't afford not to get paid.

I get 2 paid weeks either before my due date or after the baby comes. These are separate from any maternity leave and vacation time. I get 6 weeks for vaginal delivery and 8 weeks for C-Section. Those are all fully paid. Anything after that is unpaid leave.

I recvd nothing at my old company. I just got the 8 weeks for my c-section. This time I will be working for DH so I really won't get any time off either. But I will be getting pd for any time taken off.

My company gives us 7 days paid maternity leave. Then we get disability @ 60% pay for 6 weeks vaginal or 8 weeks csection.
The men at my company get the same 7 days at the birth of a child.

I get as much time paid as I have accrued. I made modifications to my salary and accruals now that I can utilize later. Basically, I "banked" my salary and accrued time for the previous six months that will allow me to have 14 weeks paid without having to use up all my accruals!

6-8 weeks at 70% paid (but I get 100% for the first few days since I have to use my sick days first)
4 weeks at 100% paid (Bonding time)
2 weeks at 100% paid (my vacation)
1 week at 100% paid (left over Vacation and Personal Days)
Based on expected due date of 9/8/08
So a total of 13weeks with some money coming in (assuming natural birth).. then I will go unpaid for another 2 weeks until Xmas week.
If she's early I may have more unpaid days - unless it's C/S then I'm actually paid longer.
If she's later then I definately will have less days unpaid (yeah)
So far it looks like C/S though...
As I told my boss who kept harassing me about when I'd go out on maternity leave "WHO KNOWS!? It all depends on this kid and since I can't PICK the birthdate, you'll just have to wait and see"

From my company I am getting 12 weeks leave (falling under FMLA) but it's all unpaid. I have Short Term Disability insurance and getting paid a percentage of my salary from them paid in one lump sum a month.

Wow, I am shocked at all these companies that practically give nothing!
I am currently a SAHM (so I get nothing  ) but the company I worked at when I had DS gave me 16 weeks at full pay. Part of it was FMLA.

Before working freelance, I worked for an international company whose HQ was in France-- where you get a YEAR off for maternity. If I was still working there, I would get 2 weeks paid at 60%, and the remaining 10 weeks NADA.
Women in this country need to seriously speak up about maternity leave policies. It is SO misogynistic it makes me so ANGRY.

For DD, we got 8 weeks fully paid. They just raised it so next time (whenever that time comes) my DH and each get 12 weeks fully paid.

Yeah, you'd think, but they don't. We don't even have a full coverage insurance policy. It's a high deductible, zero copay policy, where once I meet my deductible I still have to pay 20% of all services rendered, they only cover 80%. MY DH says the same thing all them time, that he can't believe that "this company" doesn't have better arrangments.

It's an investment (money managment) firm which is based out of LA, CA...CA state has different maternity leave regulations therefore our NY office must follow CA laws....
