How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

Was he 100% involved?

Not involved at all?

Or did he only care about the major vendors and leave the rest to you?

I ask because I'm going to be in a wedding next year and just found out that the groom is picking our BM dresses because the bride feels that he should be involved in every aspect of the wedding. That was odd to me...what does a man know about color schemes and matching? Or about dress cuts and fabrics?

how involved was your DH?

He wasn't that involved - certain things he really cared about (like a band and a limbusine) but, otherwise, he really wasn't that involved. He definitely would never have helped pick out BM dresses though, even if I asked him to!

The dresses were the only thing he did not have input on...the.only.thing. Chat Icon

As funny side story..

My friend's neighbor was getting married and the BMs were having a hard time picking a dress they could all live with. There were 7 or 8 of them. SO finally as a last resort they all agreed to let the groom pick the bridesmaids' gown. He went to the salon, picked a dress and wouldn't you know they all loved it! Chat Icon

He only cared about the hall (incl. food), DJ, limo, tuxes and honeymoon. Everything else was up to me. I would never allow him any input on dresses. Chat Icon

Re: How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

He had zero involvement in any dress picking. But he did happily go to all our vendor meetings and attentively smile and nod at my endless wedding babble. Once our vendors were booked, I pretty much handled the follow-up meetings from there.

The Groom picking out the dresses is just weird.

He was involved in many things, but not choosing dresses. I showed him the pictures after we chose and he said "those are nice." That was the extent of it.Chat Icon

i went to vendor appts without him, i am surprised he came to the church and hall

the only thing he is insisting on is adding an hour to the reception ( to make it until 2:30AM) and I am SO nervous that people won't stay and we will look lame LOL but of course it is his "one thing" so I am supposed to give in!

My DH and I went to a dress shop and picked out a BM dress together (none of my BMs could come with me). We picked ones we liked, I tried them on and modeled them for him and we came to a decision together, then picked the color.

It doesn't seem that weird to me, but my DH is a great shopper - he is such a help when I'm looking for new clothes. Not all men are alike in that sense.

Re: How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

Dh went to all of the initial appointments when we first booked all of our vendors. After that, the only thing he was involved with was the photographer. My MOH/SIL went with me to all of the other appointment and helped with the details

Re: How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

DH was involved in pretty much everything except the BM dresses. Even I wasn't really involved...I just picked the color but let them pick the dresses.

DH had a lot of input.
I was sort of the wedding project manager and delegated some projects to him, & but we ran all desicions by each other.

He actually did help me with BM dresses, b/c my BMs were out of state & I needed a 2nd opinion, but I found the final one on my own , and just showed him as an FYI, and gave him veto power, which he would have only used if they were way over the top or scandalous.

Re: How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

He was involved in the big decisions. I would run some of the small things past him and he would say that it didn't matter to him.

I would say he was 75% involved

Same here. He cared about the big things but the little details I took care of and he was fine with that!

The only thing that was left totally up to me was the flowers. He didn't go to those appts. but for all the other big decisions, he was there.

Somewhat, he had a lot to do with our grand entrance. Then after that it was just checking with him to make sure he liked what I was picking.

Re: How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

We took a different tack. I researched things, narrowed it down, and then we came to decisions together among a small set of choices.

DH and I picked out the BM dresses together, not from a set of choices either. He went shopping with me more than once and brought up good points. DH can be pretty fashion conscious and knows what looks good.

Some things he narrowed down first like the photographer and the DJ.

I think the only things he wasn't involved in really was my dress (of course) and.... uh that's it.

Re: How much input did your DH have in your wedding?

He was involved, he went to all the major appointments that I needed him to attend and he did the tasks that I asked him to do (rings, tuxes, HM, etc.). I did a lot of planning with my mom as far as DIY stuff, and then I'd narrow things down and ask Kevin to help make the final choice.

As for the BM dresses, I showed him pics of what I had in mind and we decided on the color together. My MOH picked out the dress but I got his approval before we ordered them. His DD was our jrBM, he came with us to get her dress and for her fitting.

He came with me when visiting venues, hearing DJs and looking at photographers. Showing him a million invitations would have made him Chat Icon , so I picked my top 3 and showed him. Lucky for him, he picked my #1 choice. Chat Icon

He couldn't care less. all he wanted to o was help pick the reception venue and the band.

I liked it that way - I did whatever I wanted!
