How much do you spend on a sibling's bridal shower gift?

I'm trying to figure out how much to spend on FSIL for her bridal shower. She's marrying DH's brother, DH is the best man, I'm not in the bridal party. I wanted to get something nice, but don't want to look obnoxious either. I know she's hoping her BP gets her the stand mixer. We gave them their stemware for Christmas.

I have a basket of placemats and kitchen towels and some other decorative items for every holiday for her from my daughter.

I would spend between $150-$200. You don't want to go too overboard but also want to get something nice since she is going to be your SIL.

but I am cheating b/c she registered for something my company sells-so I will get it for free- or 50% off

For my SIL's shower I spent around $500 and neither myself nor DH were in the Bridal party.
She spent about the same on us as well.

I spent about $100 and that was 10 years ago, and I was only 18. Now I would probably spend closer to $250-300. It is my only sister.

Oh, I didn't read your whole post. For you FSIL, I wouldn't go over $150. Just get her one nice present.

I wouldn't put a price on it. I would get them what I think they would love. It wouldn't matter if it were a sister or a FSIL since it was my DH's sister.

doesn't matter if it is a sibling or an inlaw ... anywhere between $500-$600.

I gave my FSIL a $200 gc to BBB. Plus since I was in the BP, i chipped in for the shower. In return, when i had my shower this past November, she gave me a $24 cake cutter!

I'd spend about $150. My SILs (DH's sisters) were all in my bridal party and I think the bridal party chipped in about $150 each for my present.

Back 3 years ago, I spent about $400 on my SIL for her shower....They did about the same for me for my shower

Well... mine didnt get me anything- and no wedding gift either- So, I am being generous when I say $50-$75. I do like her a lot though- she is honestly, just cheap and she has SO much money it isn't funny!


ETA: they aren't engaged or married yet- they will be in the near future I think

I don't have any sisters so for my SIL's shower (both of them) I spent about $150 for the gift and I purchased flowers and vases and made the centerpieces for both showers

My sisters didn't give me any gifts for the shower or wedding. I didn't mind though since they have had their fair share of money troubles. When they get married, I'll probably spend about $50 on their gifts.

The norm where I'm from (Midwest) is about $30-75 for shower gifts.

I think it depends how close you are.

For my SIL I spent about $100-$150 and put together a cute basket of all bathroom things. We aren't close and I also was not in her bridal party. She spent about $75 on my shower gift.

But for very good friends, I have spent a lot more.

I spent $200 on my sil's basket o'bathroom accessories. I got a $40 gift in return.

For my SIL I think it ended up totaling around $1200. DH was the bestman( it was his brother getting married) and I was also in the wedding party.
I think the same or close was spent on me.

For a sibling or a sibling in law? Probably around $300 or more.

I spent way too much on my sisters bridal shower. But I wanted to and no one forced me. I think all in all I spend about $500. between the restaurant and gifts.
