How much debt you have?
This is a spinoff about the housing post and how some people posted about the debts that they have......
Do not include your mortgage or your car payments....
Let's see what's the consensus out there.....
ETA>> I looked and saw that I didn't answer the question.
We don't have any CC debt. We have Amex and if we charge anything, with the other credit cards, we pay them as soon as we get the bill at the end of the month.
We have car payments though......

None right now. But we have some more furniture to buy for the house that we're going to have to charge.......
Oh, oops - forgot about my school loan - I think that's at around $15k.

Zero, not counting mortage (which is less than 50% of home's purchase price)
I lived at home and paid off my student loans EARLY. I saved over $9K in interest alone and I graduated in 92 before student debt really skyrocketed.
Never had a car loan. Always make payments to myself and in X amount of years buy a car... cash.
DH is the same way.
We pay off credit cards every month.
We live below our means and save the rest.

We are about 10k in debt....
Our tax return is paying off a good chunk..and I plan to have the other half paid off by the end of the year (before we move)
I want to be totally debt free, cut up the cards and all...
I know because we are married its OUR debt... BUT all of these purchases were made PRE being married...even PRE being engaged...
I only had one little cc, and always paid it off immediately.. I think these things are plastic devils

Debt is my middle name!! But seriously, we have my school loans, which in about another year, my mother will generously be paying off for me. Then DH has a few um..boo boos on his credit cards, which are slowly but surely being taken care of. Over the last year I have become very responsible with my money, making sure everyone is paid and on time. I am very proud of myself for this, because I used to be horrible with money!! So I'd say within a year or two we'll be debt free!!

I voted $20,000 because we renovated our house, both apartments this year and we put it all on a no-interest credit card rather than taking a HELOC. Before that we only had my students loans which are nothing. We don't believe in cc debt, we use AMEX only. We will pay off the cc debt before the 0% is up.

I have a school loan, but I have the money to pay it, but it makes sense to keep paying the minimum since the rate is only 1.4%.
Cars totally paid, no CC debt.
