We only have from undergrad, and DH had less than I did. We consolidated a few years ago at 3%-ish, we have $15,000 left. I think we have a 20 year loan, it's been like 2 years, so 18 more to go!

I wouldn't be in such a rush to pay off student loans, but we make too much $$ and can't write off the interest anymore
If you own a home and have enough equity, you can take out a HELOC to pay off your student loans. Then the interest is tax deductible.
Just another option.
We can't write off my student loans either, but the ones under 4.5%, I'm in no rush to pay off. Even just my savings account makes way more than that, let alone my other investments.

Thanks everyone. I really need to consolidate. I havent started paying them off but there about $90,000 and I will have to pay $1500 a month for ten years. The payment could be a lot lower if I increased to twenty years but I just cant see myself paying on a loan (besides mortgage) for that long. I just want this out of the way so that I can live my 30's with little or no debt.
Wow, how old are you that you will pay off the $90,000 before hitting 30?

My student loans for undergraduate and graduate school combined is only $27,000. I consolidated and the payment is $160 a month. However I pay $200 a month. DH's loans from grad school are a lot... we pay $265 a month and it's a 30 year loan.

I have $20,000 for my MBA (undergraduate is paid off)
I consolidated at a low rate and my payment is $112.00 (but I give them more every month)

I owe $40,000 and that includes grad school and two undergraduate degrees.
I pay $600 a month for the next 10 years. But I have a bit of a problem b/c I don't have US$ and they don't take credit card payments (I know it doesn't sound right, but if we could pay it with a credit card here in our currency it would save us the extra $25 a month we spend to get a foreign check made up).
I am at a bit of a loss here and I will have to call the bank when I go to NY in 3 weeks.
Anyone ever have this problem?
