Re: How many cutting boards do you use?

I prefer wood. I have 3 wooden cutting boards that I use frequently - 1 for cooked meats, 1 for raw meats and 1 for fruits/veggies. 1 is bamboo (raw meats) and the other 2 are generic butcher block.

I also have several resin boards and a few thin plastic boards that I yank out every now and then. I have a tempered glass one that I hate because it sounds awful when I chop.

Re: How many cutting boards do you use?

does anyone use Epicurean?
I just read an old post that Epicurean boards do not harbor bacteria.

Right now I use a plastic, resin type of board. One for meats, one for fruits/veggies but I can see the blade cuts in the boards and it freaks me out thinking about what is growing in the cracks. I scrub the boards clean by hand to wash.

I have a bunch of different size Epicurean boards. I just like the cutting surface better than wood or plastic. My only complaint is that they sometimes get a funny smell when wet, but it goes away once dry.

Never heard that about not harboring bacteria -- but I think anything can get contaminated if it's not cleaned properly.

I have 1 Epicurean board...that i use for cooked poultry, meat, fish

a big bamboo board which I mainly use for rolling out dough and things like that (more than cutting)

then i have those 4 plastic ones that are colored for chicken, meat, fish, and veggies (similar to these... i use these for RAW poultry, meat and fish... and use the veggie one for veggies obviously)

I really want this one that Giada always uses:

(bad pic... that's the actual one she uses from the maker's website, but here's a better pic of the grain)

We use those 4 colored plastic ones, though we use the fish one for other stuff, since we don't cook fish. We have a big, thick plastic one for bigger, non raw items.

Same here! I do cook fish, but I've never had a need for a fish board. I use it as a second veggie board.
