Re: How long does BC take

The day after you take the last active pill it is out of your system. As far as AF regulating, everyone is different. Some people are regular right away, others take a few months, some take even longer. But usally within 3 months or so you will be regular.

I was right away. But on this boards, I've heard of many people who seemed regular the first two months off and then their cycle went crazy, so you never know.

It's out of your system the day after you stop taking your last pill. Many ladies get pg right away, and some take months or over a year to ovulate / have regular cycles they can track.

Personally, I went off BC in February, hoping to try for DC #1 in June/July. But I have only had one period since then. I'm currently on day 69 of my second cycle and going crazy, and wishing I went off the Pill sooner.

once you stop taking BCP, its out of your system.

the first 3 months were regular like I was still on the pill. the next 3 were longer. it took us 6 months until we finally got our BFP.

everyone is different.

Re: How long does BC take

I never got my first period after going off BC and had to be given a supplemental pill to kick-start it. 3 months after that, I got my second period. Then I didn't get it again and had to be given a boost. After that (9 months), I started to get AF on my own but never regularly.

It's different for everyone. I understand a lot has to do with what your body did naturally before you went on it. So if you were regular before, you should transition back to being more regular after.

Re: How long does BC take

I have a question...

Different BCPs have different levels of horomones in them...my doctor in NY put me on a low dose pill and he said that b/c it was a lower dose I had to be more careful not to miss any pills - he said stronger pills could stay active in my system a little longer (he said back in the day BCP had more stuff in them). He mentioned something about heavier women, like very obese not taking lower dose pills b/c something to do with body weight and the way the active ingredient is absorbed and that the BC is more likely to fail if they missed a pill vs if I missed a pill at my weight (under 100 lbs)...but he did make it clear to take it at the same time every day and not miss any as you should with any BCP...this was after a long tallk we had when I came off the patch (which I loved but doc stopped prescribing) he went off on a tangent b/c he was explaining that with the patch people's bodies can absorb it differently..

My question is - do you think it's easier for your body to try and regulate after stopping a low dose pill? Or do you think it's the same difference?

ETA: i am taking a generic of Alesse which is considered an ultra low dose and contains .02 of estrogen

Mine too--my cycles were all about 30 days right away. I was very regular before BC too; and I wasn't on it for too long (maybe 4-5 yrs).

this I know to be true about the heavie the person is, the less effective sometimes the pill can be. I read a long long time ago that women over 150 pounds need to be more careful..I am not sure if this still holds to be true but it's scary to think if you are depending on it. I was thinking that maybe I am not back to normal was because I have been on every pill under the sun including the shot.
