How long did you look before you finally found a house?
We have been looking for a couple of months now and I find this whole process very frustrating and overwhelming.

We started looking in November and we had an accepted offer in March. It can be really disheartening to look for so long and not find what you are looking for. We saw about 100 houses before we found our home.

I looked on line for quite a while. Then when we started looking at actual houses, we put in an offer on the 2nd one we saw (but looked at several more after that one). We are waiting to see if the offer was accepted. Good luck!

We started looking in April and found one by October, so about 6 months. That doesn't include some time before April where we did Open Houses just to get a feel for things.

5 months!!! I hated every minute of it, ever single minute!! It was so frustrating to find out what $500,000 cannot buy! We lost one house and then miraculously found our current home, but for a bit, I was willing to rent forever!! Just hang in there!!!

We started looking in January and are signing the contracts for our new house this afternoon!!!
I know how frustrating it can be - don't give up - your house is out thre!!!

We starting looking in November 2003, around Thanksgiving and went into contract December 26, 2003, one month later. It can be done quickly, if you are lucky and willing to make compromises.

I've always had my eye on MLSLI...but when we actually started looking it was New Year's Eve...we found our home on the 14th of Jan.

It took us about 3 mos. We were casually looking in August/September, then really started looking in November, made an offer at the end of January and are moving on Friday!

Lol- maybe like... 2 weeks.
We weren't in the market to buy, per say- we were in the market to move out of our current apartment.
When I started pricing out rental apartments, I stumbled across this opportunity. So we were never really house hunting...

I had been researching and stalking MLSLI for at least 6 months.
We found our house after about 50 open houses and 4 weekends of looking.
Keep your head up, you'll find your home!!

About 16 or 18 months - I can't remember now (we bought almost a year ago). We looked at over 180 houses in that time period...this doesn't include all the drive-by's, the on-line research and most of the OHs we saw 
It was daunting and frustrating...but it was a different market a few years ago when we started looking. Hopefully it's easier now with the market favoring the buyer over the seller (somewhat).

we went on and off -- first looked in summer 2005, I think. We were looking for a condo in long beach but when we saw how expensive the places that we liked were, we decided to hold off until we saved more and were making more $$$.
We picked up again in August 2006 and went into contract that October. But, I was going out all day Saturday and Sunday, plus one or two nights a week which looking back, was a little overboard for me.

3 weeks...we will hopefully be in contract this week. I thought that it would take us a lot longer to find something. But we knew exactly what we wanted, so I think that made the process a little bit easier.

5 months or so. We thought we found the house...but then our buyer fell through for our house so we couldn't purchase the house we wanted at the time. We totally lucked out and found such a more amazing house for a little more in price and couldn't be happier!!! Good luck....by the end of the process of looking DH wouldn't even go with me...he thought that if I liked it it would be fine for him. He isn't so patient

We started looking the beginning of Jan '06 and found our house by the end of Jan of '06 We compromised on some things and bought a fixer upper but ended up getting a house in the town that we loved and has a great school district which was much more important to me. There are times when we think we were more into having a house then the actual house itself but in the end I think we made a great decision it will just take us a little longer to get the stuff we want done.

we actually started looking at a few open houses before we were ready to buy and saw a few that we really liked. we wanted to wait to list our current house before making any offers though. we listed our house got an offer after 2 weeks and actually ended up making an offer on a house that we had originally seen at an open house. the whole process has been VERY fast for us.

We started looking in June of '06 and found our home in Dec. of '06. We were in the house by the beginning of Feb. '07.
