How long before you...
... have kids?! Now that DH and I have been married for over a year, we're geting the baby questions even more! We both agree that we'd like to start trying early next year. I'm 31 and he's 30, so we don't want to wait too much longer, but at the same time, we want to enjoy being newlyweds and spending time alone, going on trips, etc.
I'm not sure how long everyone on here has been married, but I always wonder what other people's thoughts are on this! Do you want kids right away? Do you want to wait a few years? Share!

i always said i wanted a honeymoon baby.. dh wanted to wait.. we had lots of discussions about it and decided we would wait and then SURPRISE we were expecting!!! what better time then the present!! im due in just a few weeks and we're celebrating our 1st anniversary tomorrow!

We celebrated our first anni in May. We would like to start trying at the end of next summer (2010) but I'm not sure if we'll be ready financially. We live in a small one bedroom now and I would like to get something bigger before having a baby. I don't want to wait too much longer since I'm 30 and dh is 37.

We've hit the ground running! We tried for a HM baby but I think we missed my O date (those shore days on a cruise take a lot out of you!). We're 29 and 32 and we'd like to have 2 plus I have PCOS, which makes pregnancy a challenge in the first place so we figured we'd better get crackin'!

were in the same boat we werent exactly financiallyready but then again is anyone ever "ready" and we too live in a teeny tiny one bedroom apt.. but we're making it work!!! if our both ready emotionally i say go for it..

We're planning a trip to Europe in the Spring of 2011 after DH finishes his masters. I'm coming off the pill a few months before that, so we're going to start trying on our trip.

Meggo, I cannot believe how clear your sonogram photo is!! That is unbelievable! I've never seen one with that much detail. How exciting!

aw thanks... the sono tech was being nice and did a 3d shot of her at 20weeks i wish i could get another now to see the change in her!

We are married seven months. I went off the pill last month...but we arent TTC. We will probably wait another year or two...although since Im off the pill, although were being careful were kinda like if it happens it happens

DH and I were going to start at our half year mark... 6 months after the wedding... and low and behold.. we are one month from our 1 year anniversary and we have a 2 month old daughter!! We ended up with a honeymoon baby and we are blessed.... It wasn't what we planned.. and to be quiet honest.. if I had been on these boards earlier and actually knew when I was supposed to ovulate, I would just be getting pregnant now... We had just moved into our house, and financially, did not have enough saved to really have a baby...
Looking back at the last year now, I wouldnt change it for the world.... Yes, I had to go back to work, I couldnt stay home, but everything is perfect!! I couldnt imagine my world without her.... It also helps that both sets of families help us out tremendously from cutting coupons, to buying formula and diapers....
I dont know that I ever would have been officially READY to have a baby... I always wanted one, but I dont think you are ready until you actually have it... I think it helps that DH and I have known each other for 15 years, we have traveled to many places already, and we did have a big enough house to have a baby... otherwise, I would have been much more careful, if you know what I mean...

We want to wait. We're enjoying our time together and we've been saving money to be in a better financial place as well as to buy a bigger place. We don't know what we want out of life so for now, it makes sense to wait a little longer. We dicussed next year but I'm thinking to wait 2 years after the wedding.

We're starting TTC in the fall, and we'll have been married a year and a half by then. We completed some house projects, and now we need to save some $$ before getting preggo.

I kinda have no idea? We would have loved to start right away but are no way ready financially. DH just started a police academy for a federal agency so things are looking up. He wants to start after he graduates in Dec, and our 1st anniversary will be in January. I started crunching the numbers, but a friend recently told me no matter how many times you do that you will never think your ready. So I think we are going to start sometime next summer or fall. We want to go on a nice romantic/exotic vacation for our anniversary as soon as DH can take some time off. That prob won't until next summer/fall. I think I will go to the doctor get the thumbs up & start vitamins before that trip, so we can TTC while we are away. Who knows thought. You plan and plan, and never know. I could end up pregnant before that for all we know, or not for a long time after that. I am excited to be able to say I know when I am going to start TTC though!!!  to everyone already trying.

We wanted to have a HM baby but I O'ed a day or two before, so that didn't happen. We did get pregnant soon after though! We are expecting our on September 11th and will celebrate our 1 year anniversary on October 26th

Dh and I decided to wait about 2 years after being married for kids. we wanted to enjoy our time together, etc...all the reasons most people wait. It will be 1 year this October, so I'm hoping that maybe summer 2010 we will start trying and will have the baby after our 2 year anniversary. I also wanted to be in a house and more financially secure, but we'll be waiting forever if we do that! Dh is a bit nervous about trying b/c of the money situation, but we can't wait forever. so hopefully a year from now I'll be preggo!!
