How long before a child is fully potty trained?
My son is 29 months and we started potty training over July 4th weekend and so far its been somewhat successful. He will pee in the potty 95% of the time there are instances when he doesnt take off his pants and underwear quick enough and will pee but that is getting better with elastic band shorts.
The poop has been an issue...I dont know if he is afraid but he just wont sit and relax to let it out. He will have the urge and say he has to poop and run to the bathroom but I guess in the time it takes him the urge has passed but then he does that 2-3 more times and by the 3rd time he doesnt have enough time to get to the bathroom and will poop in his pants.
I dont know if its just my expectations are too high since he is just 1 month into training but any advice would be helpful. He is in daycare full time. He is strictly in underwear and is also night/nap trained as well.
I am starting a new daycare in a month and they said that for him to be considered full potty trained he needs to have no accidents for 2 weeks. At the rate we are going with pooping I dont see that happening.

Re: How long before a child is fully potty trained?
My daughter wasn't FULLY poop trained until almost 4 She got the pee with no issue- never even had a nighttime accident, not once.
The pooping she refused. Held it in, refused, pooped in her pants.
Nothing worked. Rewards, charts, praise, nothing
One day it just clicked. At like 4 years old.
It wasn't an issue at daycare because she usually held it in to poop in her pants at home!

How long before a child is fully potty trained?
I started my son in April when he was 25 months. I would say he wasnt 100% trained until the beginning of this month. He still sleeps with a diaper but he can now go in the car with underwear without me having major anxiety lol. Because they are very young I would say give it a few months to feel like they reached 100%. Although my nephew is 3 and he still has trouble pooping on the potty. Good luck

Re: How long before a child is fully potty trained?
DS literally trained right away by himself. He was 34 months and was just ready. He asked to wear underwear and we put him in them and he has never had a daytime accident. At night we left him in pull-ups for about a month but he was always dry, so we let him sleep in underwear. He's 3.5 yo now and has had a handful of accidents overnight, but very few and far between.

My DS was one month past 3 and he just got it. Was almost immediate
The average age for boys to be trained is 36 months....

How long before a child is fully potty trained?
I used the 3-day potty training method with both of my kids. It worked in that both were pee-trained within 3 days. My DD never had an accident at night at all, but poop took a month for her to get it. She was 28 months when I trained her - a month before my DS was born, which was exactly the day she finally pooped on the toilet (in my hospital room).
I trained my DS a month before his 3rd birthday. Same 3 day method, he had a handful of nighttime accidents for about a week or two. Poop took 6 weeks to click. He held it for about 4 days before finally doing it on the toilet (in the doctor's office... what is it with my kids??).

How long before a child is fully potty trained?
I had posted here (and I think spoke to everyone I knew that had potty trained in the past). My son was pretty much pee trained but would just poop in his pants. I tried everything... and nothing. Everyone told me when he is ready he will just do it and there is nothing you can do to make it happen until he is ready to do it. Well everyone was completely right. One day I was in Target and he was like Mom I have to go poopy in the potty... from that day one not one poopy accident!

How long before a child is fully potty trained?
My ds was fully trained in 4 days.
We used the 3 day method. It took 2 days but day four was back at daycare so he had an accident. Was night trained and poop all at the same time. He was 2.5

Re: How long before a child is fully potty trained?
My DS will be 3 next month & is mostly trained for pee (daytime at least, not sure about night, I keep him in a diaper overnight) and doesn't have too many accidents throughout the day but poop is a different story.... since we're starting trying to train him to poop in the potty he's only done it once & the rest of the time he just poops during sleep (nap usually) And I think he's holding it in when he's awake because he used to go way more frequently before we started training, which makes me sad because I don't want him to feel like he has to hold it in to avoid an accident. Not sure how to correct this but I'm not pushing it, I figure he'll poop in the potty when he's ready.

Re: How long before a child is fully potty trained?
My DD was fully trained (pee and poop) with no accidents in 3 days at age 3y3m. She was more than 100% ready though, I was dragging my feet which is why she was a little older when I finally trained her. My DS is now 3y4m and I haven't started yet, I'm hoping to by the end of the summer. We'll see how that goes, I am anticipating it to be harder than it was with my DD.

This was my son, word for word. Pee trained when he was three, refused to poop on the potty until last Christmas Eve when he was almost 4 and a half.
