How long after the accepted offer did you get the engineer?
Our offer was accepted...and our realtor said "you need to get the engineer right away, or the owners will go ballistic!" We think she is rushing us.

what is the general time frame?

Our contract said we had to have it done and the results back to them within 7 days so we did it quick... probably 2-3 days after our accepted offer!

Yes get it done as quickly as possible, so that someone else doesn't come in and bid higher and then you. Until the contract is signed by both parties they could go with someone else. We had it done in 2 days after the accepted offer and had the report within 7 days. GL! And how exciting!

We had an accepted offer on a Satruday, and had the inspection done the next Tuesday.
You also want to get in there, because before the inspection is done, the owners are still allowed to show the house to other people. So after the inspection is done, contracts can be written up, and once they are signed, they can't show the house anymore.
The faster you move, the better.

congrats sandy!! not only do you not want them taking in a higher bid, contracts dont go out until the engineer is done. until that, the lawyer wont know what to negotiate. GL!

right away! we had another house snatched away from us by a higher offer so we didn't want that to happen again. i felt a bit rushed by my agent as well, but honestly, i am glad she pushed us a little b/c everything went smoothly. and the engineers are used to this quick turn around time.

A few days after the offer was accepted, and we got his report the following week. I think we made the offer on a Tues. or Wed., it was accepted that day, we had the inspection on a Saturday, got the report on Monday, and called to discuss the report.
They do rush you--everyone wants to seal the deal quickly.

I would definitely do it as quick as possible, like someone else said - legally they can still show it and accept other offers until you are in contract.

Accepted offer on Monday engineer was in there on Tuesday..Even my agent knew we were doing this too long with to many deals that didn't come together..We did not want someone else coming in with another bid! I can also recommend a great engineer if you need.
