How late is too late?

How late is too late to go back to college and get a degree? Either another bachelors or masters?

I was just reading the other thread - "what would you have majored in......"

I was thinking well, whats stopping me besides huge loans? If that werent a factor would 28 be too late to go back, be in school for 4 years and start all over again???

My parents both went to nursing school in their 40's

I think it is never too late to go back.

My mother went back for her master degree after having 3 kids.

I dont think it is too late if you still really want to go back to school... I would love to do it but we have been thinking about starting a family and school doesnt fit into the picture....

Going back does get harder as you get older

I'm in my early 30's and have completed a graduate degree. However, I'm thinking of going back to get a masters in teaching. It's never to late to go back to school.

I think about that sometimes. You'd really have to think about how children would fit into the plan. It seems to be harder to conceive the older you are, but you technically can ALWAYS go back to school.

I went back at 30 for a 2nd bachelors degree in a totally new field - it was a long road, but I am really glad I did it. It is a HUGE commitment, both financially and time-wise, but I will never regret going back.

I went to law school straight from college- but there were people there in their 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. In fact- one woman was a mother who said she just put her son through law school and decided to go herself. Actually the average student's age was probably around your age.

I don't think it's ever too late to go back to school. If there's a will there's a way. IMO

Taking me a full 2 years (summer school, 12 credit loads, with my FT job), but I will be graduating with MASTERS days before my 30th B-day.

it is just starting to hit me that I am almost there, but I never thought I'd have this opportunity to go back.

It's am not going to lie and say it's easy, my days can be very long, but this is something I needed to do for me and I needed to try and make a new life for myself doing it!!!!

Think of this way, in 4 years you'll be 32, do you want to be 32 with a college degree or not?

I'm 31 and I'm graduating this year, and in my English class I sit next to a grandmother. Last semester I was in class with a 60 year old woman who had more energy and was a better student than any of the 20-somethings in the class. She was so inspiring! It's never too late!

Ages ago, my twin was talking to my friend about going back to school & said "But if I go back to school now - I'll finish in 4 years & I'll be 28!" My friend said "So how old will you be in 4 years if you dont' go back to school?" Her mom graduated law school the same year she graduated college so she had a good role model.

Never, never too late...my grandmother was at Stony Brook while I was at Fordham.

I don't think it's ever too late, but you have to weigh the money/time commitment.

I'll finish my doctorate several months before turning 30, but I'm going full time while working full time. It's hard. I cannot imagine doing it with kids, because most of my spare time is spent doing homework and working on my dissertation.

I considered going back to get a second master's to teach, but the starting salary would be a pay cut at this point.

It's NEVER EVER too late. My mother started from scratch at 38 with a husband and two kids. She went to school full-time and worked full-time and 6 years later had her BA and MA and is now a very successful speech and language pathologist. It's NEVER too late.

It's never too late. You live one life, make the most of it. My mom graduated with her BA at 45 and her Masters at 50. And I remember each time I graduated, they always gave a special commendation to people in their 70's and 80's that just decided to go back to school. Its never too late!!!
