How involved are your DHs in decorating?
DH and I had our first fight in forever and it centered around decorating, so please, let me know where your SOs stand!

How involved are your DHs in decorating?
I picked out all the paint colors and the way things look. He wants to make sure it is a good item (looks at reviews) and comfortable. For example when we got our couch he didn't care what it looked like as long as it wasn't pink, he just cared that it was comfortable. I made all the paint choices in our first place (again no pink, lol)

We gutted and redid this entire house 8 years ago... he didn't care. I picked every fixture, paint color, stain, appliance, tile, etc. I remember him coming to the tile store, lighting and furniture to show him what I liked but I don't remember him caring either way.
He picked the two flat screens and the shed. I couldn't care less if we even had a tv.

My DH is a fantastic decorator...he's got a great eye, and because he loves to build/refinish furniture our house has a very unique style. We make all decisions together, but he takes the lead, and he always does better than me LOL

We are in the process now and my DH is very involved, we picked all the paint together...today I bought a bedspread without him and was nervous he wouldn't like it he did lol

How involved are your DHs in decorating?
We've learned we can't pick out window coverings together. It's just about the ONLY thing we've EVER fought about! I now go buy them without him and make sure I'm not there when he puts up the rods and hangs them.
DH does most of our remodeling so he's involved in picking out fixtures. When it comes to furniture, he's concerned about how it's made so he's involved with that too. I guess he's pretty involved but probably bc I'm not all that into it anyway. If I was adamant about things, I'm sure he'd defer to me more. We also bought our house very early in our relationship and spent a lot of our early years together redoing things and wandering home depot.

How involved are your DHs in decorating?
DH and I have very different tastes, but I care about decorating and he doesn't. So I *try* to pick out things we will both like, but when I ask for his opinion, he doesn't want to give it, which drives me crazy. That's when we argue about decorating. I would like some input from him and he'd rather I just pick out what I like. Guess I really need to just go with that and enjoy not having him interfere!

My DH is in charge of all architectural decisions and he's great with it. His moulding and built in designs have influenced our decor style. I usually buy the majority of our furniture and accessories. If we shop together we generally agree, if not my choice wins

We made a deal when we bought our house. I have full control over the main floor and he can do whatever he wants in the basement. I now have a whole room in the basement that is a shrine to Rocky, but hey, I get what I want that way lol

DH has taken more of an interest since we bought a house. Paint colors were a battle. I wanted neutral lighter tones and he wanted dark grey or dark blue everywhere. He'd paint our bedroom black if I let him. The patio set was another battle. But he doesn't care about things like artwork, pictures, etc.

We discuss every single detail lol. I never really thought he would care, but he actually does. We're almost done with our bathroom..he had a hand in picking out everything except for the knobs on the vanity and the apothecary jars that sit on the counter. Overall I got what I wanted in terms of look, but he helped to pick it out/find things.

My hubby is involved... VERY involved. We both pick out, and have a say in all major decor purchases. He has a very good eye for these things. He picked the color for the guest br and 1/2 bath by himself (he's lucky cuz I was in the my 1st trimester and just couldn't give a crap lol).
I did tell DH that he has full control of the backyard/front yard. He can decide what shrubs to buy and what patio decor to get etc. Of course I'll still buy flowers to plant and hanging baskets but the rest is up to him. The garage is also his (how he wants to organize it, shelving etc).
For the most part we agree on 95% of the decor things. (except blinds for the family room. We still can't agree on that lol).

He's pretty involved in things. He has a good eye for it and keeps me a bit more grounded in our decor.
I like bright colors...sparkles...crazy patterns...animal print...modular furniture...robots...tie dye...books everywhere.
Lucky for him, I lived on my own for a long time and got that out of my system for the most part.

Same lol. But the bigger stuff like furniture, we both shop for and agree on. I actually bought a new duvet set today and already put it on the bed. So DH will be surprised when he gets home tonight lol.

dh is very involved, but he is in construction and has seen the most gorgeous homes you can imagine, he has a great eye for the vision of how something could look,
I do not have that at all, so we do it together but I let him take the lead on a lot of things

He loves to come with me, loves to help pick things out - but we have never disagreed on anything, luckily. He and I share the same taste and anything I like, pretty much, he always agrees with. He's fun to shop with. He's great too because then he'll put stuff together and/or carry items as well which is great.

I chose "wants to be involved on big ticket items." If we buy something pretty permanent, like a couch or a light fixture, we choose it together. If we re-do the kitchen (someday soon, I hope!), DH and I will definitely make our design choices together.
But for things like paint color on the walls, I definitely took the lead (although he had veto power).
For more minor things like accessories -- new throw pillows for couch, new comforter for bedroom, bathroom towels/accessories, seasonal items -- I choose it/buy it without his input and he doesn't care.

I basically make the decisions, but DH likes me to run it all by him. Sometimes he does have an opinion, and we talk it out and compromise (but often 'compromise' means 'he sees it my way' :P)

Doesn't care. I pick what I like, 99% of the time he likes everything and goes with the flow. The only thing we choose together is paint, I'm the decorator.
