How does one temp?
I know there is a thread on top of the page, but it's a bit overwhelming. I figured I would ask the experts!
So where do I start and then how does it work?
I thunk I missed my o this month.

Re: How does one temp?
first you need to get a Basal body thermometer, which you can get at any drugstore, the one i bought was less than $10.
you have to take your temp every morning @ the same time before you do anything. (Before you get up to use the bathroom, before you sit up in bed, etc. )
you need to keep track of what the temps are every morning...sites like fertilityfriend are good for that.
what you look for is the shift in temps on your chart. the day before it spikes and stays elevated is usually when you O. FF website will explain everything for you.

What's the difference between a Basal and a regular thermometer?

Re: How does one temp?
Get a digital basal body thermometer. Mine was from Target.
Temp when you wake up before you get out of bed, drink anything etc.
I used to chart at fertilityfriend.com. You look for when your temp sharply rises and BD then.

it's more sensitive than a normal thermometer. It's able to pick up the slight rise in temp during ovulation

It gives a very precise temp-instead of 98.6, it would be lets say 98.62

more sensitive, like PP said. it's usually in a different section of the store from the regular thermometers...like near the OPKs and whatnot.

Re: How does one temp?
Are they digital thermometers? Do you take your temp orally? Rectally? Under the arm?
This is so confusing!
Maybe I'll just invest in that expensive opk thingie... I'll never remember to take my temp at the same time each day AND record it.
Someone else said it- TTC sure is hard!
