How do you stop your kitten from biting/scratching?

I had no ideaaaaaaa the amount of energy kittens have!

All he wants to do is play-bite or scratch us....How do I stop this??

Mine did that until they were a year old. Get a spray water bottle and spray him when he bites or scratches. Eventually he will stop!

we used a spray bottle. Our kitty is now 17 months old and he still bites!!!! HARD! We have tried alot. Another thing I have done is the bitter apple spray. When he bites i spray it on my finger and put it on his lip. That stops him but only when he sees me get the bottle. He is very sneaky! Good luck. My guy is just a biter but it is getting less (not much though)

If he is biting you while you are playing, put him down and don't play with him. He will eventually learn that isn't good. You can also replace a toy with your hand when he starts this behaviour. He has to learn that a hand is not a play thing.

If it isn't your hand, but rather your legs under the covers in your bed, there isn't much you can do about that really. They do grow out of it eventually.

you can also get a can and fill it up with pennies or marbles and every time he does something undesirable, give it a shake.
he needs to learn to associate something bad with those actions. Don't continue to play with him when he bites and scratches, this will encourage the behaviour.

BTW, how are the fleas? I havent seen ya...hope the wormies and fleas are better.

My 6 year old cat bites my hand when we are playing...dont use me as an example though, I let her do it

my kitten is about to be 5 months old and she is already calming down a little. she still has her crazy moments, but she's chilling out a little...

she bites and we use the spraybottle. she's pretty good though, she doesn't bite hard when she plays with my hands but she does beat the heck out of her toys.

my dh also "taught" her to use her scratching post. he wakes up with her first and every morning he'd pretend to scratch it, and make the scratching noise, she now does it on her own.
