Suck it up and throw it out.
That's what I do with all of it.
Me too! It ends up in the garbage. I'd much rather people save their money and not get anything.

OMG--do you know my MIL....My SIL (Curliegirl) and I always say this. I used to always accept and say thank you....now i am comfortable enough to say "sorry,,, our tiny apt can not hold this"
I know they mean well...but I dont like clutter!!
I checked twice to make sure it wasn't you posting Jen!!!!!
We all have such a good relationship that we tell my mom that we can't use half the crap she buys us. I tell her to save her $$ or if she would put what she would have spent in a jar, she'd be rich!!!!!

Thanks everyone.
I usually send out Christmas lists to the families each year and maybe I'll casually work it in there.
Or get DH to do some hinting.

I think we have the same MIL. We just had a yard sale this weekend and I made quite a profit on all of the cr@p that she has given me over the years!

Re: How do you politely tell someone "No more STUFF!"
i think theres really no other way to do it but just politely tell her. or maybe make other suggestions like "well, we really need this, and thats all we want"
my moms family does a "white elephant" gift exchange. where you wrap up something you have that you don't want and bring it. you put them all in a pile, and then draw numbers. when its your turn, you pick any gift from the pile and unwrap it- you never know what you're gonna end up with! and then i think somehow you can trade, too... its fun, and we crack up at the junk other people brought... you might end up with another " junk" item, but at least you're getting rid of something at the same time! its just a fun way to cut down on the " what should i get so-and-so" and the whole extra little gifts thing...

Re: How do you politely tell someone "No more STUFF!"
My MIL has always been the same way. In the last year or so, it's been a little better....she is sticking with GC to our favorite restuarant and something small for each of us.
How to politely tell her? I would think DH is the best answer. Just be honest & say that there is just no more room for all the little extras.

Re: How do you politely tell someone "No more STUFF!"
My MIL used to do this but I plainly said (every chance I got) that I don't buy anything for myself (hint hint) that doesn't have a 'spot'. I can't stand clutter so if it doesn't have its own place, it doesn't stay. She got the hint after a while
