How do you dress your infant when going outside in the cold?
We went pumpkin picking this weekend and it was cold! I was not sure if I dressed my DD (5 months) warmly enough. What you do put on your infant in the cold?
Also, what is a reasonable price for an infant winter coat? Are they practical or is there something better to dress her in? They are so cute, but seem to be expensive.

when we go out with em - i tend to layer, as she's normally a VERY warm baby...
we'll do a short sleeved onesie, a pair of pants, socks & a jacket (we have several of differing levels of warmth). i always also bring a blanket and hat. this way - when i see that she's warm, i can remove the blanket, then the hat, then i MIGHT take off the pants and put back the blanket...etc.

Re: How do you dress your infant when going outside in the cold?
When my DD was an infant I didn't use a coat. They don't recommend using a coat with the infant seat, they are less secure with a bulky coat on. I just dressed her in layers and used the Kiddopotamus Posh Pouch over her infant seat and tucked a blanket inside. She was always warm and snuggly. I didn't really take her outside of the infant seat when it was cold outside.

Layers is a good idea. DD tends to get cold though. What types of jackets do you have? I think I need to get different types of jackets.

Mason is almost 5 months and I've been wondering the same thing. We have a few jackets for him. MIL made some nice hooded sweaters, my mom got him a Columbia winter coat, I got him some too. My MIL and mom spent the most of course. I picked a cute one up at TJ Maxx and my fav at the Nordstroms sale a Quick Silver coat.
I also got him his hat at Children's Place and usually throw on a blanket over him in the carseat.

What type of layers? Like a sweatshirt over a onsie?
What is a Kiddopotamus posh pouch?

A onesie under her outfit. Maybe a little sweater. A hat and mittens. The Posh Pouch goes over the infant seat and protects them from the elements. Hard to explain so below is the link so you can see what I mean.

we have several...
we have a light spring jacket - just a basic jacket. we have a fall jacket - thicker than the basic jacket, lined and kinda like a sweat suit type jacket. we have sweaters galore we also have a winter coat that we got at children's place, but i can't see us breaking that out for awhile (because she's always so hot)
LOVE the bundle me idea though - for our trip to niagara, does anyone know if it's waterproof??

Re: How do you dress your infant when going outside in the cold?
For example, today my 8 week old DD is dressed in a short sleeved onesie, fleece pants, thick socks and a fleece button up shirt/jacket (it has a hood).

An infant should only wear 1 more layer than you are in.
But I agree, no coats in the carseat

Re: How do you dress your infant when going outside in the cold?
if i'm leaving the house with him (for example, today - i had to take him to the babysitters, as I'm at work), he gets a l/s onesie, pants, socks, shoes, and a hoodie with a fleecy blanket.
if i'm just home with him, it's socks, a l/s onesie, pants. sometimes even just a 1 piece footie thing.
