how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
By the time DH gets home and showers etc, it's practically time for the baby to eat and go to bed. Do your DH's participate in the routine?

He doesn't. DS is fed, washed and in bed before he gets home.

same here.
My DH works 2 jobs. The days he doesn't work the 2nd job he is at the gym. He will sometimes put DS to bed or participates in the routine on the weekends

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
DH gets home between 6 and 630. Sadie has been in her crib no later than 645 lately. Sometimes she is asleep by that time.
He usually gets home while I am giving her a bath or just getting her in her PJs. He will chill with her for a bit and do the bottle before bed. He will also give her a bath, but I like to do that so I usually take that job!

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
DH gets home fairly early (around 4:15ish) everyday. He showers in the mornings, so that doesnt interfere at all, and Abby doesnt usually go to bed until anywhere between 10:30pm-midnight, so he has alot of time with her. Usually he'll do a couple of her feedings, diaper changes, etc. Then she lays on his chest for most of the evening when we're watching TV and stuff. I've been giving her baths in the afternoon, but that'll probably change when i go back to work, so we'll figure that out then, but when DH is home when im giving her a bath, he usually gets everything together and plays with her while im washing her.
ETA: I go back to work sunday night, so on those nights, the night routine is all his! I'll probably still do her baths though b/c i enjoy it and i think DH is still scared of it (her being slippery and squirmy frightens him)

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
DH gets home most nights around 530 on fridays around 7
since DD is only 4 weeks she's still up until ungodly hours (aka 11-12ish) so he'll feed her a bottle, change her, cuddle her, etc.
basically he has no problem taking her off my hands a little
he is so incredibly great with her. this is his second child (my first) and you can tell he's done all of this before. sometimes I think she likes him better!

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
well- obviously our routine is different 'cause Maddie is almost 3, but when he gets home, he changes and plays with Maddie while I finish up dinner- then he usually gives her a bath when it's time- and we're bath crazy @ our house- DD has gotten baths EVERY day for her whole life since she is born!

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
DH gets home around 6:45. DS goes to bed around 8:30 after a final bottle at 8. We both give DH his bath every other night, and DH swaddles DS (and prides himself on his swaddling ability ), and sits on the floor of the nursery while I give DS his final bottle in the rocking chair.

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
Morning and bedtime are DH's domain. I get her ready for bed and DD does bottle and bed. When I was on maternity leave, he would do the 6/6:30 am feeding so I could sleep a little (she used to go right back to sleep until 9ish after that bottle). Now since he doesn't leave for work until 9ish and I have to leave by 7:30 and do daycare drop off, he feeds and gets her dressed in the morning.

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
DH and I have basically the same hours, so we share household/DS duties pretty evenly. DH gives DS a bath while I clean up dinner (or check email ) and then I go up and take over... books and rocking to sleep.

The nights that hubby is home, he's solely in charge of bedtime from showers to books, to kisses goodnight.

My DH is the only one who does the evening routine! I leave for work at 2pm and get home at 1am so it's all him during the afternoon/evening hours. He does a great job!!

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
dh works nights so he is sleeping.... but on the nights he is home he will typically sit with ds while he finishes eating so i can start the tub, he will then clean up for me and will play with ds between bath and bed

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
We have dinner together. He gives the baby a bath in the kitchen sink. I clean the kitchen and he plays with them. I give Ava a bath. We put Brody in his crib. Then He lays on her floor until she falls asleep.
7 pm... I am free for the evening.

Same here. He makes up for it by getting up extra early in the morning to take care of DS so I can hop in the shower.

My DH gets home most evenings at 4:15. He helps with dinner, baths, and bedtime. He then goes out to work some evenings from 7-9pm.

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
Absolutely...and if he isn't putting DS down to bed he is cleaning the cups from daycare. The only way this works is if we both pitch in. There are times where it falls on one person but it's because the other is working late.

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
always have, from day 1.
In the beginning, we did everything together (except when he worked 4-12's). Now it's pretty 50/50. One of us does one or the other. If i do bath, he puts him to bed and vice versa.
But on the days when DH is home with ds all day, i take over at 4:15 when i walk in the door. On the weekends when i'm home with ds all day, dh takes over as soon as he gets home.
ETA: my dh doesn't work set days (but when he does he's home by 3:30), doesn't commute and therefore doesn't get home late. He is on rotating shifts so he's around at night a lot.

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
The only part DH can participate in most weeknights is putting on his pjs, brushing his teeth, and reading him his books, so he does this. He gets home at 7:30 earliest, often later, so this is really all he can do.
On weekends DH will give him baths and feed him dinner (often we all eat together on weekends).

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
Right now James is going to sleep at 8:30 - DH gets home anywhere between 6 and 7:30 (on the nights he's not traveling). We start our bedtime routine at 7:45 - we do storytime (DH and I alternate nights reading the book to James, but we are always in the room together) and whoever doesn't do the reading that night does the bottle and puts James into the crib.
Once James starts going down earlier, I'm sure this will change and DH might not be included in it every night, but as of right now, this is how we do it.

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?
We all have dinner together, then we all play, watch TV/read books for a little bit. Every other night DH bathes her and then I take over, lotion her up , put her PJ's on, read her another book and put her in her crib.
I get home around 6:30, DH gets home at 6:45 and DD goes to bed at 8:00.
