Re: How do we feel about kissing men on the lips?
I'm very much a kiss on the lips mommy. I can't resist Elizabeth and her little "mmmmAAAAAAAAAA" sound that she makes when she kisses me.
I can't imagine it would be any different if I had a boy, but my DH may feel similarly to yours... in which case I'd take Kristin's advice and tell him to shush.

At that age....I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. DS is 21 months and kisses, his uncles, both his grandfathers and my DH on the lips and I think its adorable.

For everyone that says they think it's adorable/acceptable, do your DH's feel the same? I just wonder if DH is being uptight, or having a normal male reaction?

Re: How do we feel about kissing men on the lips?
Very interesting b/c I while I don't have a son we are all lip kissers in this family and with extended family. I guess the same thing would apply if I have a son. I honestly never thought about it. I guess I'll cross that bridge when and if I come to it. Although I assume he'll be a lip kisser too.

DH will tilt his head slightly when DS goes to kiss him so that the kiss is not dead on the lips but he will never tell DS "not on the lips".
He has mentioned that if DS is still kissing on the lips at age 5 or older, he would say something along the lines of how big boys shake hands when they greet other men and teach him that it is a grown up boy thing to do rather than that it is wrong, more like "you're not a baby anymore", then "not men with men", KWIM?

Sorry, crashing here - but I think you'd have a difficult time explaining to a 15 month old that kisses for certain people go on cheeks and others lips, etc... If you feel uncomfortable about people - whether they're family or otherwise - initiating a kiss on the lips then that's one thing and you should say something. But it was the child who kissed the grandparent not the other way around. They're so innocent for such a short time, why make it complicated for them to show others love? JMO!

Never bothered DH with DD or with his two boys. His words "their little, who cares?" He is a man of few words.

dh and i dont want ds to kiss anyone on the lips since thats probably the easiest way for them to get sick and its just too personal. Cheek is ok.
Yes, that's my feelings as well. It's personal space. I feel you lead by example so if we kiss DD on the cheek, hopefully she will learn to do the same to family. I would not like it at all for the reasons you mentioend above.

That's what I said. DH wants to tell him to "high 5" men I said, I'm not sure he knows the difference between a man and a woman at this age. Plus, I'm def. am not with him on these "men do this, and woman this" - to me, he's a baby, not male/female.

Re: How do we feel about kissing men on the lips?
I saw someone do this with her son recently and I thought it was the strangest thing. We never did that in my family, I don't think I will with DC.

It doesn't bother me, but personally (and selfishly) for my DD, kissing on the lips is reserved for mommy & daddy only.

I think it's adorable!
DD never kisses me or DH on the lips. If I ask her for a kiss she gives me her forward..LOL.
