How do I handle this?

I just got a call from the RE's office, The girl was SOOO nasty. She said, we are calling b/c according to your records you should have extra med's and the grant stipulates you give it BACK.

Now...we had some extra bravelle and Repronex that was GIVEN to us from a friend.

The RE screwed up ordering our meds and we were OUT of meds at day 2! She tells me on the phoen, thats impossible and bizarre.

She tells me what I was taking and its WRONG. I told her no I was taking double that for 3 days. she says, well then you "royally screwed up your meds"...

***?

Now Im getting upset. Shes yelling at me, calling me a liar in not so many words and I said, what do you want me to do.

As a matter of fact Im pretty TICKED off that your records are sooo wrong. That scares ME.

Shes like , well you have the extra meds. I said I borrowed 4 days of meds from someone else, because if you look I called your office 4 times about NOT having enough.

She tells me, Thats impossible and she starts getting really nasty with me.

I finally said, I have a Dr's appnt. in a few, and your making me very upset and hung up.

BUT, I dont know what to do? How do I prove this? Get my records??? I dont want to be charged for something they never gave me???

Re: How do I handle this?

No, She said, well I will have to call the pharmacy and figure out whats going on. I said do that, and shes like I just need that medicine back.

I was yelling, are you listening to me.....And she said, yes but what your saying makes mo sense to me. She said, I dont know where you are coming up with any of this....

I started getting so mad, DH was like, just hang up the phone. So I hung up on her.

Re: How do I handle this?

Can you call and ask to speak to your Dr? Maybe he/she can resolve it? That makes no sense that their records are that messed up?!

I would call and speak with your RE or the office manager about this. How unprofessional of her!!!!!! I'm sure they would not want their office represented this way. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How do I handle this?

I would speak directly to the dr and write a letter of complaint to the office manager.

And isn't this phone call just a bit late?

i would have flipped out! I would definitely call and talk to the office manager, and if that doesn't work, go directly to the doctor (they hate confrontation, and are more likely to drop it than the office personel).
What a crappy person though!

Besides, legally, can they even give the meds to someone else anyway? If we let it out of our site for even a minute, we have to dispose of it because you never know if someone could have tainted it or not... so i don't understand why it would be so imperative for them to get it back? Re: How do I handle this?

Honestly, I would try to talk to your RE AND I would also call the woman you were dealing with the grant and explain what happened. Let them hear your side first before this witch gets to them.

Good luck!

Re: How do I handle this?

I would call back & ask to speak to the Office Manager and just find out what the heck is going on, who called you? And why are they calling you now?

Once you get to the bottom of it if they still say they want the meds back (?????) you could say that the expiration date on the very little meds you had left was up so you disposed of them or that you were under the impression that it is illegal to transfer meds so you disposed of them?

Or talk to the Dr or get DH to call back & give them some s**t

I'm not surprised your'e angry, I'm angry for you. Why are they calling you now??????????? It's scary that they have the wrong info in your file.

Try not to get yourself too wound up, maybe get DH to call and get to the bottom of it?

If there is anything I can do let me know Chat Icon

PS - I am on grant also and I had to borrow meds from Helen - took me about 5 calls to get them to order me more Follistem and then they only sent me 1 vial!!!!!!!!

Rude Rude Rude!!!!

It sounds like someone at the office
s crewed up royally and are trying to cover up.

I would call the office manager and/or Re followed with a letter. I would then fax the letter and mail it to them.

I had an argument with one of the Girls at a RE office which ended in a shouting match! I looked up my records which confirmed I was "right". After the office manager rec'd my letter, she called apologizing.

I think the doctor needs to know who is representing their office. Sadly, in my case, I stopped going to the RE because of the Girls in the office. It was enough for me not to want to return.

So sorry they upset you! Arghh! Chat Icon

I agree with all of the girls, call the office manager and write a letter of complaint to the doctor.

This woman should know better. She sounds unprofessional and insensitve to say the least. The last thing you need is to be called at your home and harassed. I'm sorry that this happened, here's a hug! Chat Icon

I would definitely call and speak to her superior. Regardless, she should NEVER speak to a patient that way. I would also bring up the fact that your medical records are wrong and that your calls were ignored and you are considering making a formal complaint. I was also request your entire file pronto.

Re: How do I handle this?

order your records and the pharmacy records. include copies with a strongly worded letter. try to find written information about the terms of the grant, to see if this is b.s.

I totally understand your frustration. I think the only "language" they understand over there is putting your complaint in writing.

I applied for the grant with them in Sept 06...heard nothing for over 3 months, not even an acknowledgement of my application. Finally made a new pt appt with Dr. C, was told, "oh,we don't process people for the grant until they become a new pt (and of course the grant coord NEVER stated this during our numerous phone discussions). Was told to go for day 3 bloods, and still no definite answer as to whether or not I would get the grant. Then asked to go and see a high risk ob/gyn before they would even begin to consider giving me the grant.

Finally I put a stop to going for more tests and now face a $2K bill for all the tests and their office visit (my ins does not cover IVF, hence my applying for the grant).

Long and short of this, the only time I was able to get a coherent response was when I sent a letter in, with a cc: to the dr who heads the IVF grant.

If you are going to write in, I suggest you add a cc: to the NYS grant director in Albany (you don't have to mail her copy) but at least the clinic will be on notice that the State is/may be aware of your situation. I bet someone will get in touch with you real quick, with apologies to boot!

Good luck!

Re: How do I handle this?

I would be so P'd off too! Nevermind the fact that their records are so wrong, which is scary - how dare she talk to you that way! That is so nasty & unprofessional. I would go there and confront them & the dr in person OR just not do anything and wait till they ignore you again.
