How did you know it was potty training time?
Sometimes I think my 22 mo old DD's are ready, sometimes I don't. They're aware of pee and where it comes from, and sometimes they tell me "mommy poop" or "mommy peepee" after they've done it in their diaper. The potties have been out for a month and they've been able to explore them etc. but when it comes time to seat them on it, they won;t sit on it. They watch me use the toilet and they help flush.

For me - my DS was like that for a while but I never pushed it. Finally this summer (he was 2.5) I decided it was now or never.
He was fully able to discuss what he needed with me and I felt like he could understand not just peeing and pooping but the whole potty process and giving me enough time to get him to the potty no mater where we were. Our house is small but I wanted to be able to get him across target without an issue.

I started when my DD had dry diapers all through the night. I noticed it for a few weeks then started the training. Sticker Chart worked amazing for us.

DS was 19-20 months and I was ready!
4 days later he was fully potty trained. It was the best decision ever!

Dd was prob ready at 22 months she was dry through the night and using the potty when she felt like it. I waited until 26 months because I was having another baby and I didn't want her to regress.
Ds was another story at 3.5 I "think" he's finally got it. I had to wait for home to be ready to poop on the potty

DD was 24 months and I decided I didn't want to change diapers anymore. It was def work on my part, but it's called training for a reason. You can train them anytime if you're willing to struggle through it. You can always try and if it doesn't work out for your situation you can wait longer and try again. Rewards are key!

usually between 2 and 2 1/2 but there's no rush. They need to show some interest. Check out this Mayo clinic site: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/infant-and-toddler-health/in-depth/potty-training/art-20045230
