Re: How did you get into your career?

My story is kinda cool i think. I'm a publicist at a tv network right now. Anyway, it's long though - when I was in high school, my friend and I were obsessed with writing. There was a teen magazine that was located on Long Island so we wrote the editor a letter asking if we could write a monthly column about a show on the Disney Channel called the Mickey Mouse Club, since we liked it so much. Lo and behold, we got a call from the editor saying she would love for us to write a column every month for the magazine. She gave us the name of the publicist of the show and I got in touch with him. Granted, I was about 16 years old calling a publicist at a major agency telling him I wanted to set up interviews with these actors on the show. Him and I got along really well - he was from Long Island too and his mom still lived in Baldwin.

Anyway, we set up our interviews and wound up writing this column for about 5 years. We actually spoke to people like Justin Timberlake, Brirney, Christina Augilera, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling - all before they were famous. We went with the publicist down to FL where they taped the show and I really got to see what a publicist did. I thought it was so cool and when I went off to college decided to study publicity - and that's where I am today! Chat Icon
