Count me in amoung the hunters!
We're looking for a short commute, so we're considering a few specific areas in queens, new jersey and nassau county. Brooklyn's on our list for next weekend.

We started looking about 3 weeks ago and boy oh boy 32 houses later..and nothing!
Started out in Nassau now Suffolk. I am exhausted plus am wedding planning. So, you can just imagine .

i hear ya - we are also wedding planning too!
we first narrowed down what neighborhoods we wanted- that took about 4 months - then we knew we wanted E. Npt, Smithtown, St. James, Stony Brook, and E. Setauket.
We ended up buying in E. Setauket.

We are --- I love seeing houses but it does get tiresome looking. Some of the houses are so horrible...ugh!

Good luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Glen Cove is a nice area.
Yeah, it is tiring. It felt like we did nothing on our weekends for part of the summer and last fall. Then we stopped looking for awhile and picked up again this January. It is worth it though--I think it's important to pick a town you really like, and know what you can get for your money in that town.

Not only exhausting but disappointing. We are currently looking too. At 1st our attitude was "just browsing" but now that we are having another baby we really need to find something

So true, DH and I say the REs should be photographers.  The way they make a house look in pictures is incredible when in reality
