Holy $hit cards are expensive!

I was just in CVS buying Father's Day and some Birthday cards I needed.

I used to buy in Party City - they were half off, but they changed it and now all cards are $1, which is great, but the selection is now awful.

The average card in CVS was $4.99 and i picked up a few that were $7.99

Really?
$8 for a CARD? That will be read once and tossed?

I need to start remember to stock up in BJ's where they are 40% off. But I'm always last minute it seems and BJ's isn't convenient for me all the time.

What a rip off!
Especially since I have to get my dad a card from me, and a grandpa one from DD
And same for DH- one from me and one from her.

At this rate, there's no money left for gifts!

I never ever buy cards from any place except dollar tree.

You need to go to one of those 50% off card stores, CVS is ridiculous.

I bought DH a bday card in CVS last week and informed him I paid full price for that sucker as I handed it to him!

I went because i had $6 in extra care bucks to use- so at the end of the day it was ok, but NEVER again.

I need to plan better.

Dollar Tree! I'm telling you. Some are cheesy, not gonna lie. But some are really ok. 2 for $1

I only buy at CVS if it's a really special occasion and I am looking for a specific thing.

i go to those discount card stores. ill never buy in cvs or any store like that unless they're $1

I just bought 5 cards at CVS but I only bought from there because I had a 25% off, $5 off $25 and I was going to get $3 in ECB if I bought 3 cards. So, it wasn't *too* bad. I would have gone elsewhere if I didn't have the coupons.

I tried dollar tree for mother's day after a post on here and they had some really nice ones! Hopefully the father's day ones aren't running low bc I haven't gotten any yet.

i try not to go to cvs anymore for anything. i find them to be most expensive for most items. I'm a crafter so I make a lot of my cards now, but in a pinch I cringe when I have to buy cards.

And I was angry 2 days ago because I paid 19.58 for 7 cards at the 50% off cards store.

Which, btw, I feel like they have jacked up card prices so that when they take 50% off it's still like 2.50.

I once bought a card at target not looking at the price and when I got home I looked at the receipt and it was $8 so the next time I went to target I returned it and the girl at customer service looked at me like i had 20 heads for returning a card.

Yes!!! I recently saw a card for $7.99 at CVS and nearly passed out. It's friggin paper!!! You scribble a quick note on it and the receiver will *maybe* skim through it and then throw it out as they're shoving the gift into their pocket. It's a sin I tell ya! A sin! How many more buttons and glitter and bells and whistles can they add to a piece of card stock?? I'd rather put that $8 towards the gift.

Can we, as a society, just do away with the expectation of cards already? It's so wasteful and bad for the environment for something that gets tossed anyway. Can't we just hand over a check, cash, or gift card (which is what the receiver really wants anyway) without it sandwiched between a piece of card stock with doves flying over fields of flowers?? I'm not the type to pour my heart out into a card anyway. It's usually "Dear so and so... Best, so and so." Wouldn't the same be said by just handing over the check?? I'm sure that would be considered tacky by LIF standards LOL.

Anyway, I refuse to buy cards at CVS. I shop for cards at Dollar Tree, 99 cent store, or discount card stores.

Always get cards at the Dollar Tree, they actually had really nice ones out for Mother's Day/Father's Day/Graduation

I won't buy anywhere other than dollar store or parry city. I'd rather spend more on a gift.

CVS in general is a ripoff, but Hallmark? It almost seems illegal how much of a profit they make off of one card. I picked up a card for $8.99 one time. And now the new thing? The cards that require extra postage to mail out. So after paying eight bucks for a stupid piece of paper your spending almost another two bucks to mail it.

I would look to see if can find a half off place as that is where I go and they have a good selection, much cheaper.

I don't do cards. I Use a tag or have my kids make one or use inexpensive stationary.

I find that for events, cars are not just folded but have several layers of cardstock and inside paper and pop outs.
