Re: Holtsville.. opinion please
We looked in Holbrook last year...SAchem SD. From my research I do know it is a BIG district. Which is good and bad. Depends on how you see it. IT emcompasses a lot of towns.
I am sure more people on here can answer better. We decided against Holbrook bc of the commute so we really didnt investiagte further.

Re: Holtsville.. opinion please
I grew up in Lake Grove, which is part of the Sachem School District. Yes, it's a big district, but it gives alot of options for clubs, sports and any other extra curricular activities. The district recently split the high school into two "sub districts". this makes the graduating classes around 500-600 kids i believe. My class was around 1100 i think. I do think it's a good district though. HTH

Re: Holtsville.. opinion please
Its a good area and SD. I love it here. My only regret moving this far out. That's the only negative. Otherwise it's a great quiet town. Sachem is a good sd but very very large so for some that can be a good or bad thing.

Re: Holtsville.. opinion please
IMO Holbrook is nicer than Holtsville. There is one section of Holtsville that is very nice thats called Summerfield. It's a gated community. But the houses start at 550k and the taxes are 12k for the same schools that the rest of Holtsville goes to. Several areas of Holtsville are close to industrial buildings just be careful what you are close to. Sachem recently added more schools to accomodate their size. They offer a wide array of clubs, classes, sports etc. Many of the schools are up to date or newly redone. Overall it's a good SD. You might want to add the New England Village, Somerset and Parkland sections of Holbrook to your search. They are really pretty and very family friendly

We looked in the area, and I agree that Holbrook seemed nicer than Holtsville, though they are both the same SD. We eventually bought in Three Village because the houses came down enough that the price difference was not as great as it used to be, and Three Village seemed to have better resale value.

Those were my favorite developments....the houses were sooo pretty. If we bought we were going to def go to one one of them.

Re: Holtsville.. opinion please
my parents live in somerset in holbrook and I love it there, great development and great schools. They were even better from when I graduated to when my sister graduated. I graduated from north with about 1600 people and my sister graduated with about 600 from east I think
