How many presents did you get your LO? DS will be 11wks on Chrstmas and obviously will have no idea whats going on. But I still wanted to get him lots to open lol. (even though technically ill be opening them and already know what they are haha!) Needless to say, DH thinks im nuts lol. How many gifts did you get for your LO's to open?

Well, I got DS like 8 gifts, but didn't bother wrapping any of them, and gave them to him already.

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
About 10. But that includes bowls & spoons for solids that we'll be starting, binkies & bibs, a teether, toys she'll learn with over the next year. Also an exersaucer, but that was a hand-me-down. I figured we'd need to get these things for her anyway, they might as well go under the tree.

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
Last year DS was about 5 weeks old and he had at least a dozen gifts to open. How could he not when the tree was full of gifts for his sister. They were mostly toys for when he was 6 months and up since his birthday and christmas are so close there really wouldn't be any present occasions in between.

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
DD was exactly 3 weeks old her first Christmas. I can't remember getting her anything, although DH insists we got her at least one thing (and he can't remember what it was either).

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
I did not count but I'd say about 5 toys from 6 months up and then a bunch of books, teether, slippers, a stuffed Grover (because I had one!), the dvd Up! (it was his first movie when we went to the drive in for our anniversary), etc.
The way I looked at it was, he'll be 6 months the day after Christmas so I kind of hooked him up with the 6-12 months toys he'll need for development and play until his birthday in June when he'll get the 12-18+ things. So you may want to do that and get a range of things for the next year.
I grew up where you get from Santa and your Birthday. That's pretty much it for big stuff. No new video game the week it came out. You were good and waited. So Nolan lucks out because he's got a split in the middle of the year!

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
I don't exactly how many I got them some books. Got them each a taggies blankie, a personalized ornament and a few other things. It was so hard to find stuff for them. Maybe I could have bought them stuff that they could use later but I already have a closet full of toys that people have given them for when they are older.
There is a Tomie dePaula book called My First Christmas they are each getting that.

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
DD is 7 months, we got her 10 gifts and stocking stuffers. That's nothing compared to DS, who has a boatload lol, but we figured next year when she "gets" it more, she will get more gifts. Plus, her grandparents and aunts & uncles are going to spoil her rotten!

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
I was very cheap last year with presents for the baby --- they really have no idea -- so I got him lots of stuff I needed for him any way ---- binkies, tetthing toys some clothes and some books. He got so many gifts from the family it really didn't matter what we got him any way.
This year he's fourteen months -- I got him a bed/chair with his name on it, a large toy, an outfit and some books -- he'll be getting lots of gifts from my family and I buy him little gifts all the time anyway.

10 weeks and we didn't get her anything. But I made a wish list for her and other people have bought stuff off of it, so I know she'll be getting something.

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
DS will be one month old on Christmas Day. I didn't wrap any presents for him for Christmas, he will have ones from my parents to open (well for me to open). We celebrate Hanukkah as well and I wrapped one gift for him for a photo opp with him "holding" his wrapped gift.

DD will be almost 6 weeks. I just bought her a little board book. She has sooo much stuff she hasn't even used yet, I feel wasteful buying more.

Re: Holiday question for moms of infants
My dd is 10wks old and I only bought her the exersaucer which I didn't register for when I had my shower, I figure she will use it in a couple months...other than that she doesn't need clothes, toys, stuffed animals or teethers since I have so much of that just waiting to be used, plus I am sure the rest of the family over did it.
