Holbrook homeowners

My DH and I have been househunting and found a few nice homes in Holbrook. This would be a drastic move for us because we're from Westerna Suffolk and I know nothing of the area.

Can I get some feedback on the schools, the area in general, does Sachem have 1 middle school, are there any areas to avoid, etc.

Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks

Re: Holbrook homeowners

I live in an apt in Holbrook and grew up in Lake Ronkonkoma. It's a very nice area, I don't think there are any neighborhoods in Holbrook to stay away from.

Sachem has 11 elementary schools. 3 middle schools and 2 high schools.

If you have any other questions about the area, I would be happy to help you.

Re: Holbrook homeowners

My husband and I moved to Holbrook 6 years ago (yesterday) from Masspequa and we couldnt be happier with the area!!

We do not have children so I do not know about the schools but we lieve near one of the middle schools and it seems to be kept very nice.

We live near Main street and its a great place to shop and many restaruants.

I do not know if you or yiur DH commute to the city but the Ronkonkoma train station isnt that far away. For my DH and I that was a great selling point!

Fm me if you want anymore information

Re: Holbrook homeowners

We live in Holbrook and love it. Its part of Sachem schools which is large, so there are numerous building. We live close to Main Street, which is so charming and we have so much shopping so close by. Its extremely safe, and personally, from where I used to live, I find people a lot more friendly in general.

Plus, its so close to the LIRR!!

FM if you have anymore questions.

Re: Holbrook homeowners

We just moved to Holbrook last month. We have two kids in Sachem North. The schools so far are great. Very communicative and the security seems to be good. There are 12 elementary schools, 4 middle schools and two high schools.

We live just north of Union Ave close to Main St. and the area is great. Convenient to shopping, LIE, LIRR, and the airport. In fact, I don't think there are any questionable areas in Holbrook.

We are extremely happy with our choice.

Good luck!

Re: Holbrook homeowners

i live in Holbrook and love it. no kids yet so i can't comment on the schools. but i love the location, being so close to everything (LIE, Sunrise Highway, stores, airport). i've been here about 4 years now and would recommend it to anyone. i live on the north side of Holbrook, north of the LIE and spend most of my time shopping in Ronkonkoma. i definitely think my area is safe and love to walk the neighborhood in the nice weather.

I grew up in Holbrook and my mom (Maathy317) and dad still live there. It's a wonderful town to live in and raise children in. Sachem is ok, not the best and not the worst IMO.
