Hi...my name is Rachel and...
this is my daughter Ava.
Please, I beg you, if you see us in the supermarket or the mall and my darling daughter says, "HI!" to you with all the exuberance her little body can muster up, please have the decency to say hi back. It actually DOES make her upset when you don't. Thanks.
But seriously, why doesn't anyone say hi back to her? I think that's so rude. She gets really upset when people ignore her. 
ETA: I didn't post this on parenting because I think it's a people issue, not a parenting one

In all honesty, just about every person we come across in the store ignores her when she says hi. And she says it repeatedly. I mean, I know not everyone loves kids, and that's cool by me, but come on. She's saying hi, just friggin say hi back and make the kid happy.

Hello to you and to Ava! She's too cute! If I see you in the mall/supermarket/street etc I couldn't resist saying hello, that's rude that people wouldn't, sometimes people are mean!
ETS: I also ALWAYS say hi to children in stores...oh and when I see them on the school bus! so cute!

No, but what really got me thinking about it was when I stopped at the supermarket after I left you, she must have said hi to at least 10 different people in close proximity, and they all ignored her. I don't know, it just upset me

Well, I will say this. For the most part, I would never say hello to a little kid that I didn't know. Cute or not, I'm essentially a stranger. But I have in the past said hello to little kids when DH and I are in the diner and you see that little face pop up over the back of the booth. That I think is harmless.
But yes, if a child says hello, I would say hello back. I've got news for ya, if a grown adult said hello to me in passing I would say hello back!

I was just going to say that. The 65 and older crowd are a favorite of Ava's. They give her much attention
Anyway, thanks for letting me get that off my chest everyone. You now have my permission to say hi to my daughter if she's accosting you with a repeated line of..."Hi!...hi!....HI!....Hiiiiiiiiiiii!"
