Higher FSH

RE just called with results from my FSH. She said they are higher than she expected and the results are kind of all over the place. She wants to do it again closer to CD1 to see if there's a change. I'm concerned, what does it all mean?
She's been on my case to get a basal but I just now caved. I'm looking up stuff and am praying I'm not perimenopausal. Luckily I have a gyn appointment tomorrow for a regular checkup. Anyone have any ideas of questions I can ask?

I have high FSH... do you know what they number was? How high was it. I am sorry... i really hope it was not accurate.

It generally means that you pituitary is continuing to release FSH b/c your eggs/ovaries are not responding to it. It would do that because there are not many eggs left and/or the quality of those eggs are poor so they are not responding well.

First you need to know:
1 - the actual number
2- what CD it was taken
3 - Did they test it with E2
4 - get your AMH tested

My FSH is a 26 which is really high for a 32 year old. My AMH is not as bad as it should be for having that FSH, but it is not ideal. My dr will not "officially" DX me, but said I am perimenopausal and agrees that I have have Premature Ovarian Failure.

Hopefully you will get restested on CD3 and it will be normal. Don't get yourself until you atleast know high it was and what day it was on.

It was taken on day 4 and was 10.9

FSH rises up until ovulation then drops again. So it would have been lower than that on CD 3. I would not worry too much... its not really that high, I am sure you will be just fine

thanks, once I got the # people have been telling me the same thing and it's such a relief. I could sleep at all last night and was so tense I ended up not going in to work today. I go to my gyn tonight and I'll make doubly sure but the consensus seems to be the same, that it's NBD. Thanks again

My FSH was 10 something, and my OB said it was OK. I just had my second DC last month.
