NO. I did not go to my 10th. I talk who I want to from HS anyway. One of my friends went and she gave me the scoop. Let's just say I did not miss much.Chat Icon

Re: High School reunions

Mine was in June and I went because I have a big bunch of friends from HS that I am still close to and they convinced me to go. I had a great time hanging out with them, but we could have done that much more cheaply with red solo cups like we usually do, rather than spending a ridiculous amount for bad food and a cash bar. I went to a HUGE school (1100 in my graduating class) and there were like 200 people there, including dates/SOs.

Re: High School reunions

i went to my 10th and it SUCKED! it was sponsored by some Reunions Unlimited company-- i think they got names from classmates.com and therefore hardly anyone knew about it.

Re: High School reunions

Mine is next month. The question stemmed from a funny discussion w/ DH. I told him how i was on the fence about going to mine (its next month) and he started laughing hysterically. Apparently, anytime i've seen someone from HS, i turn around and walk the other way and mention how i couldn't stand anyone from HS. Seriously, i really didnt even realize that i didnt like most of them- i never paid attention and never really cared either way, but he thought it was funny that i would consider to willingly attend something that i usually go out of my way to avoid. So yeah, i guess i'm not going. There's only 1 person that i still talk to from HS, and maybe only a very few that i would even care to see what they've been up to.

I was close w/ a bunch of teachers though- i think that was more of a motivating factor to go than anything else.

this is how mine was too. I went with a big group so we had a blast. We all said that we wouldn't do 20, but I think if we have a big group again that we can overpower all the people we didn't like. Afterall, it was our school too!

Re: High School reunions

I put a no because we didn't have one either - there were only 38 kids in my class, and many of us wound up all over the place and just not really giving a crap...

I went to mine. It stunk. There was only about 50 people there. that's about a 1/3 of my graduating class. However, I have no regrets going b/c I'll never wonder.

Re: High School reunions

I voted other, I would have loved to go, but DH had started job training that week and we had to head out to Myrtle Beach for it...any other weekend, we would have gone.

Re: High School reunions

I did not got to my 10 year reunion.
My 20 year reunion was in September and I did not go to that either.
I will not go to any that come up in the future.

I think reunions are a little voyeuristic and I like that aspect of them. But I refuse to pay x amount of dollars to hang out and drink with a bunch of people that I don't really know anymore. I am just not THAT curious.

Re: High School reunions

I didn't go to my 10th because I lived out of state and couldn't see justifying a plane trip back for that for just a long weekend.

I went to my 20th a couple of years ago and had a great time. The 20th was different from what my friends told me because by that time most people are married with children and it was a different vibe. I went to a Catholic school and it was a whole weekend thing. I wasn't going to go, my friends talked me into it and we all had a blast. Although, there was still the group who were drinking in the parking lot the night we were at the school because there was no alcohol allowed at that event. It felt like I was at the prom all over again. Chat Icon

Re: High School reunions

One of the girls in my class was annoyed that it was a cash bar at our reunion and was still like $80 a person. She actually decided to have her "own" reunion at a local bar and spread the word via email, myspace, etc. There was a bigger turnout there than at the real reunion, and once the real one was over the people there showed up at the bar. It was a lot of fun and a lot cheaper!

I had mixed feelings about paying to go to a party and see a lot of people I didn't particuarly like... I'm glad we had another option!

Re: High School reunions

I didn't go to my 10 year, nor do I plan on going to my 15 year.

My school had a 5 year reunion as well, which I was kind of Chat Icon about. I skipped that one too.

Re: High School reunions

I didn't...my reasoning was..I didn't like 90% of the people I went to HS with...Why would I pay $75 ($150 with DH) to be in a room with them for a few hours

Re: High School reunions

Mine is at the end of next year and I plan on going. DH and I graduated a year apart from eachother and we have mutual friends from my class that we'd both like to see since we live OOS.
