Hi Ladies....Update on DH
Dont know if anyone remembers but i was asking for prayers last week
i took Dh to the ER and he DID have a mini stroke I cant even tell you how much has happened in the last 6 days
We have been in the hospital since Sunday I JUST got a signal on my computer - They have done dozens of tests on him and have no answers as to why this happened to my 37 year old DH
THANKFULLY - he had NO hemorrhaging in the brain and no permanent damage - All symptoms have gone and we are hoping he is discharged Tuesday or Wednesday
Thanks for all of the prayers!!!

Re: Hi Ladies....Update on DH
??? How have they not told you what happened? You stated in your orignal post that your DH had an emergency appendectomy on Wednesday...a day or two later, the onset of stroke symptoms occured.
In ANY surgical procedure, the possibility of a stroke or TIA should be discussed with the patient. What happened to your DH is during the surgery, a small clot formed somewhere in his system and traveled to his brain....hence, causing the TIA and concurrent dysphasia. This is certainly not a common complication to surgery, but it is a possibility that should have been discussed with you and DH when you spoke with the doctors. In recovery, the nurses or docs should have told you what to look out for over the next few days. Then you would have been better informed and had an idea of what was happening at the time and could've acted quicker. Shame on those surgeons!!! The fact that you thought it could be an allergic reaction (as well as some other posters) is really scary!!! I'm so glad to hear that things have turned out OK and you got him to the hospital, it could've been much much worse.
I have no idea why the doctors haven't discussed this with you yet.....I'm sorry I didn't read your post until now--I would have told you to take your DH to the ER immediately!!! One doesn't necessarily exhibit ALL of the classic s/s of a stroke during these events---sometimes, it's just one single small thing. I'm so sorry I didn't catch this post in time.....but, I'm SO glad everything is turning out OK in the end.
Best of luck to you and DH!!! Hope he's 100% himself again soon. Sending lots of for you both.

thanks so much and no none of that was discussed; no warning signs were told or written down for us to look out for
they were giving him blood thinners after the surgery; sent him home and then this happened
the brain MRI shows mild to moderate acute infarctions; and they have done over a dozen tests on him since MOnday with NO answers
It has been VERY tough especially when he was still showing the symptoms
thankfully, his speech has recovered but we still have no answers or explanations

OMG thats terrible! I do remember your post from the other day. It's true--when you know something is wrong...listen to your instincts. Unfortunatley, most men are so thick headed and they always think they're fine. Thankfully, everything is OK!
