Hershey Newbie Here - Need help planning

We received a very unexpected monetary gift and have decided to plan a last minute trip to hershey. Our son is 4 y/o.

I would rather not do the Hershey lodge or hotel and stay at a days inn or something. If the price is right we can do three nights. Do I need to do two days at Hershey? We would only be going on things that my 42" son could go on. I showed him pictures of Dutch Wonderland and he said "That's for babies" Chat Icon

Other things to do? Thanks for your help!

We just came back from a PA trip. We did one entire day at Hershey but we didn't do the water stuff, so you could definitely add a day there. My youngest one is 40 inches and he did tons of stuff. We also spent a day at Dutch Wonderland. My kids are 8.5, 7, and 3.5 and they all had fun--totally NOT babyish for a 4 year old!! Otherwise, we stayed at the Eden--closer to Dutch (40 mins away)--so we also did the Amish stuff and the Strasburg railroad, etc.

Re: Hershey Newbie Here - Need help planning

we were in hershey over memorial day weekend, its my 6yos 3x there. At 42" there is plenty for your son to do.

I am in the minority but I dont love DW. its okay, but I prefer Hershey.

We stayed the last time at Sleep Inn & Suites. It was about 10-15 mins from the park. But it was priced great, I think it was like $115 per night. Also it included breakfast. I wasnt anything fancy but it was enough to keep us from having to sit in a restaurant each and every morning with the kids!

ETA: We did 2 full days at hershey. but you can do as much or as little as you want. we barely did the water park though because it just opened and the water was cold. So we probably only spent 2 hours in that area.

I am a Hershey expert, lol. I always stay at the Lodge or Hotel, but if I wasn't staying there, I would probably stay at Eden resorts. Yes its about 20-25 mins away but seems like a great place to stay from what i hear. Yes, you need 2 days for Herhshey. We have been going since DD was 2.5 and there are loads of rides to go on for kids under 42", plus the water park. Plus its a huge park, they have shows, nice places to eat, play games, etc. Def 2 days.

Other things to do? We usually spend 4 days, 3 nights just going to the park and the hotel pool.

We went to DW and Hershey same trip 2 years ago, and thought DW was just ok. I would pass if I had a child over 3 for sure.

Residence Inn is nearby and good. Free breakfast, indoor and outdoor pools and a full kitchen. We stayed there in the Spring without issues. 10 minutes to park.

I did 2 days at Hershey with my then 4 and 5 and 1 yr olds and I wished I had more time!

We did the dry rides day one and the wet rides day two and then on our way home the third day we stopped by chocolate world and didn't really have enough time to do anything there because we had to be home for a family party - next time I will budget more time to spend more time in Chocolate world!
