Hershey....
We always rent from someone who owns at the Suites at Hershey. AWESOME place, you can find it on ebay, redweek, etc. Set up like condos, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, and a minute from the park (you can see the park from the window). Indoor/outdoor pools, Cocoa train goes by, outlets are next door. Love it there. I won an auction on ebay for $400 for 5 nights and I split it with another family. We actually only stayed for 4 nights though.
You need at least 2 days in the park to do it all IMO. There are also a lot of other fun things nearby. Chocolate World, the Hershey Museum, and Hershey Gardens are all nice.
They also have a nice program for special needs guests (I know your son is SN). Similar to how Disney's was. They were very accommodating to my son and one of the ride attendants went way above and beyond for him.
We love Hershey, great place!

Re: Hershey....
We did 2 FULL days and a couple of hours on the third day to quickly run through chocolate world!! We didn't think we would need that much time! I def could have stayed 3 full days if we had the time!! DEF want to do more of chocolate world next time!
We also went during the summer so one day was the water park - so it might be different if you are going in colder weather!

Re: Hershey....
we just got back sunday night! I would suggest 2 days. We went sat afternooon until sunday evening. that was just enough. chocolate world is great- the factory tour, make your own candy bar, etc. All great. need about 2-4 hours there.
Then the park itself, we did in an evening and full day next day. had a blast! kids love it! Extremely family friendly.
Two years in a row we stayed at the Hershey lodge and loved it each time.
There are characters walking around all the time, food is great at the restaurants and rooms are spacious and clean!

Re: Hershey....
We did 2 nights this summer at lodge and it was enough. We hit up Crayola on way up, spent the evening/night at Lodge. DD is young, under 3, so we did one full day at the park and did chocolate world and car museum (DH dragged us) the following day before heading home.

We did 2 full days in June. It rained the first day on & off so there were hardly lines.

Look up "Suites at Hershey" on the aforementioned sites.

Re: Hershey....
We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey - much less expensive and it includes a hot buffet breakfast. It's about a 5 min drive to the park. I'd say you need about 2-3 days to do it all (including the outlets next to the park).

Re: Hershey....
We did 2 nights over the summer and it was enough. 1.5 days at the park, and the last morning we did chocolate world. We stayed at Hershey lodge and I have to say I didnt care much for it. Way too spread out, rooms are dark and badly in need of updating. Would be ok if it was a bargain but it was expensive! I would probably stay in a non-Hershey property next time.
