Hemangioma?

Anyone have experience with this with DD or DS? DD has a small one inside her vaginal fold and we have an appointment in a few weeks with Dr. Hayman who came very highly recommended from our pediatrician. I've been doing some research on it and apparently many hemangioma's (about 85%) resolve/disappear on their own with no treatment, but its very common for them to increase in size before they go away. Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

That's the professional name for a strawberry mark or storks bite right? If so my dtr had one in her hairline, deff got worse before it got better but now at 7 years old it's hardly there at all. Give it another 1 or 2 years it should be gone completely.

Dd2 has one on her right eyelid and on the back of her neck. She's only 2 months so no clue when it goes away. Gets lighter or gets darker.

Yes. DS had one on his forehead. If you look in my profile and some old pics of DS1 you'll see it. It was really big. We also went to Dr Hayman. He was awesome. Because of the location he didn't have to do anything but each visit would measure it. He said they only do something if it's obstructing something like by a nostril or even by the privates. If it's not effecting her having to go to the bathroom then he may not do anything. We kept an eye on it. When we moved to NJ never went to a pediatric derm again and just had his Ped keep an eye on it. I want to say it stops growing before a year but it's been so long. He is 6 now and you hardly see it. I used to train his hair to go over it and now we spike it and you can't even tell. If you have any more questions please FM me. Like I said... It's been a while but it was pretty much mostly gone by 3 - 4.

Dr Hayman is excellent! We love him. Dd has one on her neck. She's almost 8 and it has faded considerably since birth. It doesn't bother her we go to get it checked but he says it looks fine and he leaves it alone

My DD went to him at 2 ,moths old bc she had a deep hemangioma on her eye- he is really great!

DD was born with it by her nose, it completely went away by 18 mos old

We went to him! Dd 1 had one hanging down her gums from the inside of her upper lip and one on her butt that started out the size of a tic-tac and blew up to the size of a marble since birth. Dd2 (twin sister) was born with one under the skin right in the center of her chest! It looked gnarly and veiny and I was so worried. For her, We went to the city to the birthmark institute of Ny (Dr Waner)
About the one in the mouth: it will shrink every year until she is 2, when it will be gone completely. No surgery since it isn't obstructing her airway. It was gone in less than 6 months actually! The one on her buttocks has flattened out, lightened up, and shrunk considerably. It will be gone by age 9, no surgery.

Removing the one on DDs chest would have been too invasive IMO, and ii didn't want her to have a scar unless it was harming her. She will be 3 in Nov and we keep following up on it... 70% gone!

I had a HUGE one on my forehead until I was about 3, then it went away. DD has a very small faint mark. They can be hereditary. My grandma had one as well.

My nephew was born with one on his leg and one internally (under his vocal fold). He was treated with a beta blocker and within months the one on his leg disappeared and the one under his vocal fold shrunk by more the 50%. He is still on the beta blocker to completely get rid of it. A student at the school I work in also had one internally (eye) they was successfully treated with the same beta blocker.

dd had one on her stomach. She's 2 1/2 now and its a very faint "tanish" color mark now. It got bigger, bumpier and redder then started to fade. They used to remove them but they left bigger scra so they started leaving them and they faded on their own. Have it checked but most likely it's nothing and will fade over time.

A friend had a huge bump on her head. It was a big bump and red, her hair grew over it but it too went away over a year or so

Our DD (4 months old) has one on her labia....Dr Kristal (Dr Haymans partner) is watching it. Its only a few cm long and not blocking either the vaginal canal or urethra so we are just watching it and visiting the derm every few months for now. Dr Kristal said most likely it will just begin to go away at about 1 year old but it may get a bit larger before it starts to shrink...no plans for any intervention now other than wait and see

my daughter has a small one on top of her forehead. it appeared when she was about 1 month old. at first we thought it was a bug bite but then it started to get a lil bigger. ped said it was a hemangioma and would eventually go away. when she was a lil over 1 we went to a derm. he said it could take up to 5 years to go away. shes 3 now and still has it. it did get softer and a bit lighter in color. luckily her hair covers it.

My DD developed one pinpoint on in her vaginal area at one month old, and two pinpoint sized ones on her chest/neck around then. Those neck/chest ones went away on their own, never grew larger than a crayon point size. The one in the vaginal area grew to about a pea size. But she is 6.5 and it's still there, although smaller, squashed and flat looking. Like a squashed pea. I was told that sometimes they can leave a small flap of skin that may have be removed, so I will have to do it when she gets older b/c she isn't aware really that it's something abnormal (we never wanted to scare or upset her). We did see Dr. Hayman, who did not want to do anything for them b/c he felt they were not interfering with anything. So we did leave them alone and although I wish the vaginal one was gone, it never gave us an issue.

FM if you want to discuss more privately, the vaginal one always upset me but I tried to keep it in perspective that it never got bigger than a pea and is very flat now.

I had a pretty large one, right in the center of my forehead, in line with my eyebrows.

My mom said it started as a pinprick around 1 year, grew to about 4 years, and then slowly faded. Now, 30 years later, I have a scar, but no discoloration.

My DD had one on her shoulder. It got a little larger and slightly raised for a few months and now she is 2 and it's barely noticeable.

My DD has one large one on her right butt cheek and a tiny one on her left butt cheek! They are the cutest! They are fading now and now where near as big or dark as they were when she was born. She is almost 2.

DS had an internal one that started when he was 2 months old. After about a year a small strawberry mark came on top of the internal one. He's now 4.5 and the internal one is gone and the strawberry mark is pretty much colorless and got smaller.
