Help with transitioning from swing to crib for naps/When did your LO have a set nap schedule?

I had no problem at all transitionining my DD from sleeping in her pack n play at night to sleeping in her crib at around 2 months old. BUt at night she went to sleep immediatly after or during her last bottle or was so drowsy it didnt make a difference.

With her naps however it takes more work and more soothing for me to get her to nap.. she is 3 months old. So for her naps I put on a soothing CD, rock her for a few minutes and then put her in her swing where she will usually fall asleep on her own. If I put her in the crib, she will not fall asleep on her own and will just cry, and when I try to move her while she is asleep from the swing to the crib she will wake up the second she hits the crib.

It makes it more difficult since she doesnt have a set nap schedule..

At what age did your LO have a "set" nap schedule?

Any advice on how to get her to nap in her crib? Should I just use the same cd, rock her and put her in teh crib and let her cry it out for a while and hope that she sleeps eventually?

Thanks!!

I dont have an answer, but am so glad you posted this. We were having this conversation yesterday. Twin A will not nap if not vibrating and swinging and twin B sleeps better when swinging. both fall asleep at night after their last bottle which they are already swaddled for.

I am as eager as you to find out others experiences.

My DD didn't have a set nap schedule till between 5-6 months old. On the weekends, she napped in her swing until she was close to 7 months old.

Do what works for your DD. If its the swing then continue with that. I feel that the most important thing is for them to sleep--no matter where they are.

HTH!

ETA: DD was swaddles for naps and bedtime until she was 5 months old.

I wouldn't let her CIO at 3 months. That's a little young. DD still doesn't really have a set nap schedule at 8.5 months. She's usually up for 2 hours before she needs to go back down for another nap. So her schedule really depends on how long her naps are. At 4 months is when she really settled into any type of schedule.

Up until 6 months DD had to be rocked to sleep. It was exhausting! She was starting daycare and so I decided to sleep train her so she'd fall asleep on her own. She was able to do it at night, so why not naps? I let her CIO for naps for about a week before she finally learned.

Honestly, at 3 months I'd personally just do what works.
