help with restoring a piece of furniture
I am trying to restore this old dresser that was my grandmas and I sanded it down and stained it. I am very unhappy with the stain (thought it would come out black and it came out more like cherry wood). Can I spray paint over the stain or do I need to sand it again?
Do you think spray paint would be ok or should I buy black paint in a can and paint it on normally with a brush?
This is becomming a real headache.

Re: help with restoring a piece of furniture
I owuld sand it again and use a roller to paint it - the brush might leave strokes

Re: help with restoring a piece of furniture
DH and I have done this. We sanded the furniture to get rid of the smooth feel (the paint will stay on better) and we used black lacker paint and painted it on with a paint brush.

I agree with the black lacquer and the paint brush, it might give you the look you want.
