HELP!!!! EATING ISSUES
My almost 18 month old is refusing most foods she used to eat all the time. Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner has become torture for me. I have started giving her too many options with hope she will eat. I know she is hungry because she will go to the fridge looking for food. As of dinner tonight I am offering her 1 meal, if she doesn't eat it then i will take her out of her highchair and I hope she will come see me to eat when she wants to eat what I put in front of her. No snacks if she doesn't eat her dinner.
Anyone else deal with this? What did you do? TIA

Re: HELP!!!! EATING ISSUES
DD is 17 months and she did the same thing about a month ago and I was giving her a million options and I was breathing down her neck . Take a bite eat this try this ... And then someone gave me the advice to just leave her alone. I finally would give her her fork and her plate and would ignore her and she went back to eating and even trys new things . I also was giving her too much milk , ped said 18-24 oz max .
Good luck !

See she doesn't want to drink milk anymore since it's not in a bottle. I do walk away when I give her something and she starts whining and when she sees me she puts the plate out so I take it. If she doesn't want it she will let it sit there if I don't take it, she is very strong willed. I am going crazy over here and spending a fortune on new types of "kid" food that I wind up eating.

Re: HELP!!!! EATING ISSUES
I still give DD a bottle I plan to take it away at 2. Dd is also a very strong willed spit fire , the trick really is to not play her games . And put out things she used to love . Dd is also a big fan of feeding me so I let her feed me while I feed her sometimes . She also responds greatly to dipping sauces . She dips everything ! I also give a lot of praise when she does eat and I don't make a big deal when she doesn't eat .
My nephew has a very bad eating / food problem and I think it's because eating was always a task and a major commotion (still is ) everyone always was on top of his to take a bite chew your food etc. I believe he needed therapy seeing he ate jarred food until 3 years . But that's not the problem with our girls . My point is I just put the food down 90% of the time . They won't starve . Good luck :)

Re: HELP!!!! EATING ISSUES
Hello! I have been noticing with my ds that he now wants his food presented in a certain way. Maybe your dd is going through the same? For example, I use to slice up a banana but now when I do that he screams and gets mad. He only wants to pick up large chunks of banana now. If I start spoon feeding yogurt he gets mad. If I ask him If he wants to do it himself he says yes and will sit quietly and spoon feed himself. I have also noticed recently that my ds ignores small pieces of food. He wants bigger pieces only! Hope this helps in some way!!

Re: HELP!!!! EATING ISSUES
We're having the same problem here. DS is 19 months.
Funny that a pp mentioned banana slices. DS just started refusing those too! But if hold it in the peel for him and let him take bites he'll eat it.
I've just tried to get variations on what he used to eat, and I won't buy anything that DH or I won't eat.
So for instance, he used to love string cheese. But then he stopped eating it so I tried American, cheddar and finally muenster which he will eat.
If he completely refuses the meal I prepared, I'll give him yogurt, crackers or a cereal bar and send him on his way. He has never refused those three items, yet...
Just wanted to add that I don't badger him into eating. If I put down his food and he says no I just take it away, save it if I can to try later or tomorrow. And then ask what he does want. If I get an answer then I give him that. If not I give the choice of the yogurt, crackers or cereal bar.

Re: HELP!!!! EATING ISSUES
We had this phase, seems to be coming out of it. I would say around 16 months or so it started and now at 19 months is better. I swear on Monday she'd eat something and on Tues or Wed you would think I was serving her poison though it was the same food! Also she would eat pasta in a bowl and jarred carrots/tomato at the same time but if I mixed it together like sauce, no way. At first I was making a big deal about it but then I just went to giving her something I knew she would eat. Seems to be getting better and she is eating more things and being less picky. Very frustrating when they go from eating anything and everything to being so picky.
