Help!! Clogged Milk Duct

I can't believe it took 3 kids for this to happen to me.

I offically gave up BFing 2 weeks ago. I now have this lump and it's killing me. Any suggestions?? I've tried hot compress, hot shower and now I'm just so sore. I don't have a feer or chills so at least that's the good news. TIA!!!

Hot compresses and just trying to massage it out worked for me, but I was also still BFing at the time so i think that really helped to clear it out. Sorry I can't be of more help, but hope it clears up soon! I know how painful it is! Chat Icon

Chat Icon I guess you still have to get the milk out? I am not sure...

But I always microwave a wet facecloth, hold that on my boob...pump, then dip breast in a bowl full of cold water. The hot/cold works best for me.

OK now I'm freaking out!! I of course went on the internet to get some more info and nothing is listed about this happening after breast feeding just about breast cancer.

Chat Icon What did you use as your "key word"? Try "plugged duct."

Here's some info from KellyMom

I've never had one, but from what I read, you need to keep draining the breast with either a hospital grade pump or by BFing. I'm not sure what you're supposed to do if you've stopped BFing. You may want to call you Dr since it could develop into mastitis if left untreated.

This is what my pediatrician told me!!
But you do need to let them drain a bit too, so massage a little bit of milk out.
