Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
Yes I believe. I've never seen anything, but I've felt it and had things done around my house that only members of my family who have passed would know to do to let me know they were there.

Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
I believe w/every fiber of my being in the afterlife.
I had a number of "weird" experiences but2 in particular solidify that there are spirits or ghosts.
Both events happened when I was in college. The 1st was when I was a freshman, I was in my dorm room alone sitting at my desk trying to get some work done. I was kinda leaning back in my chair w/my text book in both my hands. I almost fell backwards so I sat up correctly, laughed at myself and was about to put my text book back on my desk when my pencil rolled forward. It wasnt by much but it def rolled. The windows and door was closed and there was no fan on in the room. The 2nd was a little creepier, I was an RA and was used to getting woken up at all hours of the night. I remember hearing someone (a girl) whispering in my ear while I was sleeping, it woke me up and I jumped up. I had one of those clip on lamps on my bed frame. I switched it on and I saw some guy walking into my closet. He stopped looked at me, kinda smirked and kept going. I was def awake b/c I started shaking so hard and then ran out into the hall looking for the RAs on duty.
I also believe that I can feel my brother around. Its odd, sometimes I'll be driving or sitting in my living room and I'll just get this feeling like a broken cord has been fixed, and I wont even think about it, I'll just start talking. IDK if he is really there, it def helps my heart to feel like he is though.

Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
i've never really seen a ghost. i mean, i've done a double take, and thought maybe for a second it was something, but the more likely answer is it was nothing and i just want to believe i saw something.
do i believe? the honest, yet boring, answer is i don't know. i want to believe in an afterlife and in spirits. i want to believe your spirit and soul will live on. i don't know if it is that desire that makes me believe, or if i do really believe. i've certainly heard some stories that seem incredibly true. but the logical side of me says no way. i think i believe in something greater and i am a bit spiritual. but i have doubts at times as well.

Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
I have seen a ghost ! I was changing my newborn in her bassinet ( which is against a wall) ,and I had to ask my DH something ,so when I saw him come in the room out of the corner of my eye, I asked him the question. Well as I was asking the question I hear my dh walking down the hall to our room ,and ask who I was talking to I freaked!! I saw a body ( white arm ,and half of a torso) . I was so scared, we slept with the light on ! The next day we found out his great aunt passed away that night .

The only reason I believe in an afterlife is because I saw a ghost once. It was crystal clear.

Yes and yes. Too many experiences, not just myself, but for other relatives. No one is really into spirits either, but there have been experiences all the same.

Something exists, i dont know if its little particulates of time travel that can bring back images of people or left over energy that we somehow subconsciously use to create memories or images that we see....stephen hawking cant answer this one himself. Something beyond our capacity to understand exists i think.

Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
I definitely do believe in ghosts but I've never "seen" anything myself. I believe that sometimes people do get kinda 'stuck' after they pass.
The house I grew up in had a ghost for a while according to my Mom (and my Dad will begrudgingly agree with this). She saw a shadow walk down the hall outside of her bedroom door a few times, the doorbell would randomly ring late at night (there was a long wood deck you had to walk across to get to the front door, so it's not like someone could really ring and run), lights would be found turned on when my parents returned home that they hadn't left on, the garage door once opened itself for my dad when he came home to an empty house one night. The activity started right after they moved in and stopped after a year or two. I don't remember seeing anything as a child but I distinctly remember always being afraid to be left alone in rooms.

Don't believe in an afterlife, a "purgatory", a "spirit realm", etc.
Same here. Part of me wants to believe, but I just don't.

Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
Yes, I do believe. No, I haven't seen anything, but, relatives have experienced.
1. My uncle (mom's brother) ended up on the ER the day of my mom's funeral. It took him a few months to go visit her grave. Him and my aunt, meet up with my dad (who works where my mom is) and they go to the grave. All of a sudden, mid prayer, the sprinklers go on. They get soaked! My dad tells his boss the story and his boss goes "Yeah, sure...those sprinklers haven't worked in a while..you KNOW we need to get them fixed". Ummmm...it freaked everyone out. It was my mom saying to my uncle "Hahahaahaa took you THIS long to come visit me"! That's the relationship they have!
2. My sister has a puggle. Dog never ever barks, until one day, she stopped in her tracks, looked down the hall and was barking away. There was nothing there. My sister sent me the video. Ginger (the dog) was definitley barking at something/someone.
I know this may sound wierd, but, I'd love a "sign", for myself to know that my mom is here. Sometimes, I feel like she's in my car (if i'm driving alone), in the passenger seat, but, I've never seen anything.

Re: having this discussion at work and thought I'd ask here too..
I totally believe.
When my dad was sick with Lung Cancer - he promised me he would come back and visit. We were living in California when he passed away. When my mom & I were finally settled here in NY, he kept is promise and was standing at the foot of my bed smiling at me. I thought I was dreaming, so I told my mom and she said "Oh, I saw him yesterday in the kitchen"
My Aunt who I adored and was like a second mother to me died of Pancreatic Cancer 5 months before my wedding. She promised me 2 days before she died, she would be a cool breeze across my face on my wedding day. I had completely forgot until we were standing outside taking pics on a muggy overcast day. My DH said "Ohhhhh MY GODDD A cool breeze, FINALLY!" then it clicked.... she kept her promise
