Having AF While Pregnant
Is it possible to have AF and still be pregnant? I know technically the answer is no, but a friend of mine had AF every month regularly until she was in her second trimester, it was called some disorder which I cant remember now.
The reason I ask is this month I only really had AF for two days when usually it lasts 5. I'm sure its nothing, but has anyone heard of this happening?

i think that some women have spotting which they assume is their period but its not really.
and i am sure its rare but possible to get your period. I see those women on TLC's "I didnt know I was pregnant" who claim they got their period the whole time. so who knows?!

I know someone who didn't know they were pregnant until they were 4 months pregnant because they kept getting their period every month. It can happen but I think it is very rare.
I am not sure if my post was taken a certain way but what I meant to say was she thought she kept getting her period every month and didn't know she was pregnant. Sorry for the confusion. I don't know how heavy it was but I just assume it was heavy enough for her to think it was her period. I guess I should have wrote she had bleeding while she was pregnant.

i know someone that is due in November, she only found out she was PG when she was about 5 months, when she went to the hospital for kidney stones- they did a sono, and she found out then. she had her period all along.

You cannot possibly get your period while pregnant. You can have spotting around the time you are due for your period but it is not your period. You do not shed uterine lining or an unused egg if you are pregnant.

yes, you absolutely can had AF while pregnant. I hear of it more often then you would think.
Actually it's a huge part of that show "I didn't know I was pregnant".
And those who get pregnant while on the pill and don't know it.. when they continue taking the pill, because they don't know they are pregnant, they still get their period too.

I have to ask the girl I know that this happened to if she talked to her doctor about it. I wonder if it was her period or not. I never asked her. She just told me she didn't know she was pregnant because she thought she kept getting her period. I would research it more but know I will overanalyze if I got my period...haha

You can bleed while pregnant but it's not a period. Think about it. A period is the shedding of the uterine lining and the discard of an unfertilized egg. How can you have a period while you are thickening your uterine lining and have a fertilized egg in your uterus? You can't. By definition it is impossible.

That is what I thought and why I changed my original post because it came across the wrong way. I just looked it up and it does say you can't get your period and gives the explanation you did.

You cannot not get your period while pregnant. You can have spotting and bleeding that is caused by other things that may happen around when you expected to have your period but it is not a period. Like pp said, your period is the shedding of the uterine lining.

one of my friends didnt know she was preg til she was like 3 months along because she bled every month until then.
its not that common.
just take an HPT if you are concerned.
