Yes. Twice. Not because of work but personal things, like when my Mom was in hospital.

In front of my boss: no.

But I cried at work once when the hospital called to tell me that Vinny had been in a car accident.

That was a bad day but by the grace of God, he's OK!

Almost, a few times. I waited till I clocked out, got in my car and called DH and vented to him instead.

Never. Im a mess when I cry.

But I admire those of you who could just hit up the bathroom stall and let it out. I wish I could do that. My face becomes a blotchy mess and I could never go back to work. But Im sure its very relieving.

I've cried a few times at work, can't remember if there were any bosses around.

Yes...on 9/11/01...my husband was missing. He worked at the WTC.

I didn't find out till several frantic hours later that he was OK.

Yes, twice in front of the same boss, but not work related. But he was pretty laid back and never made a big deal out of it or brought it up again.

One day at lunch I was running wedding errands with a colleague and in one shop someone called me a very nasty name after overhearing it was an interfaith wedding. My colleague asked my boss what it meant and he came into my office to tell me how his wife went through the same thing - I burst into tears.

Then a few months after my wedding my grandmother died very suddenly right after we closed on the house and there was some other stuff going on and I just felt like I was having a nervous breakdown, so when I went to tell him I needed to take a brief leave of absence, I started crying.

yes, in front of my direct supervisor, but i'm comfortable enough with her to do that.

my director is such a strong woman, i admire her so much. after months of stress, which no one at work knew about..totaled my car, lost my grandmother, got separated...she calls me in to tell me i may not have a job the following year because of budget issues! oy. i looked at her, took a breath, said, "ok, i can handle this..." and pushed back tears.

dont know how i did it, but i think i was on superwoman mode at that stage in my life! i think back now and its funny to me, because shes probably like, "huh, i can handle this?" lol

well, i still have my job, she has a lot to do with that. love that woman!

Yes I have cried in front of my bosses, i think the last time i cried in front of them was in the beginning of last year, I wont anymore because I have 2 new bosses who has my back.

i'm so surprised how many yes answers there are! i haven't cried in front of my boss. haven't even come close. if i feel out of control i go to the bathroom and try to calm down.

I have when my ex FI and I broke up and the wedding was off.....went into work the day after and what a mistake....was crying and sat in my boss's office and had to explain what was going on........she sent me home but then it's been mentioned that as professionals we need to keep our personal business and lives out of work. I'm a teacher. It's kinda hard to keep certain things outside of work....she didn't necessarily direct it at me, but it was brought up at a staff meeting!

Not my current boss but my prior one, yes. Although those were generally tears of frustration (like the time he was yelling at me because I asked him to repeat himself. I had to remind him I have hearing loss in one ear and I was not trying to be rude) and they would almost always make him realize immediately what an a$$hole he was.

Well...maybe not make him realize it, but he'd stop acting like one for about 5 minutes or so.

I can't ever imagine something like that happening with my current boss. He's great.

Yes - my boss is like a dad to me. He's the greatest. I've cried several times.

Now my previous boss MADE me cry. So glad he's gone!!!!!
