has anyone seen cirque de soleil?

Anyone?

I'm going this weekend with a friend of mine.

I LOVE broadway shows and the like, but for some reason, I'm not really excited about this. I'm afraid it's going to be really boring.

Please tell me I'm wrong!

DH & I saw Wintuk on Sunday. It was entertaining, but this one was more for kids than adults, IMO.

If you can sit close to the stage, I think they'd be equally fun.

I haven't been to the Christmas Spectacular since I was a kid, but I remember not *really* liking it b/c we were so far away.

We saw Cirque de Soleil in Albany last year (I can't remember the name of the show). I hated it... sorry. Maybe it was just the one show, but we all were bored to tears.

Re: has anyone seen cirque de soleil?

I'm going to see it this Sunday.

I have seen many of the ones that have come to NY and one of the ones in Vegas and I love them. I sit there in amazement and watch how people can do things like that with their bodies.

This is what I'm afraid of. I love the arts and culture - but I'm not sure this can keep my attention.

DH is lucky I got him out of it. It turned into a girls' night -- and he's got a paper to write for school anyway.

I've seen two different shows - Quidam and something else. They were both pretty impressive.

Re: has anyone seen cirque de soleil?

I've seen: La Nouba (Orlando), "O" (Vegas) and Corteo (Randall's Island).

"O" was fantastic, but that's because the theater was designed specifically for the show.

I really enjoyed La Nouba! The acrobatics were impressive and I thought it had some funny skits.

Corteo was ok. Glad I went because in general I enjoy the overall theme & music of Cirque de Soleil shows, but the show was a bit slow moving, plus the theater & seats were tiny!!!! (and I was pregnant, so that didn't help my comfort level.)

Re: has anyone seen cirque de soleil?

Rusty took me for my birthday a few years ago, to see Varekai at Randalls Island.

Everything else about the trip there, parking, breaking a spring on the car, the walk to the venue, the weather, the wait... was freakin terrible.

But all was forgiven from the second the lights went down. He had gotten us insane seats, there were actors swinging out over our heads, and it was easily the best performance show we've ever seen.

I really hope you like it. Until now, I'd never heard of anyone who didn't. We saw Varekai on tv just a few months ago and it was still amazing to me. But it's so much different seeing it in person.

Enjoy it!! Chat Icon
