has anyone made their own play kitchen ? (*or a play kitchen geared towards boys)
So I wanted to build my own play kitchen for my son who is 15 months old. I mentioned it to my husband and he said it was too girly. I didn't think anything of it as he loves being in the kitchen with me all the time. He said we should have a tool bench instead and I just said ok well doboth! So I'm on a mission to create a boyish play kitchen. I saw a bunch on pinterest...just looking for a few more ideas. Any pictures?? That would be great! Where did you find the furniture? I've looked in tons of thrift shops and on Craig's list but can't seem to find the right piece. Trying Ikea tomorrow. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

What about a bbq play set? Your DH might be a little more open to a grill since its a little more boyish. Something like this

I have a step 2 kitchen for DS that's not "girly" - i never got the whole kitchens are not for boys argument. Most of the top chefs are men and pretty manly!

I agree!! DS's kitchen is dark tan with black "granite " counters and stainless steel oven & fridge.

I got the Ikea one. It's great!!! Very real looking, wood (as opposed to plastic). Looks like a piece of furniture & small (fits in our kitchen).

Most of the Step 2 kitchens are not "girly" at all. They are very neutral colors. You can see them on the Step 2 website

Maybe look/ask on freecycle to see if anyone has a furniture piece they are getting rid of that you could work with.

A website like Craigslist but everything is free. People post everything from tvs to broken coat hangers.

I have 3 boys. My husband is a contractor, meat lover, rough around the edges sort of guy. A man's man you could say.
My boys have a play kitchen. Obviously we didn't get a pink one, but the Little Tikes and Step 2 ones are pretty neutral.
We also have a play diner. They LOVE it.
They play w/ them all day long!
