What's a general estimate of how much installing central air costs?

Depends on how many units, how big the units are, the extent of ductwork needed, etc. We had estimates range from $5K to more than $10K. We ended up paying around $7800. Best investment ever!

Do you have ducts already for the heat? If so, the cost is much less, since all they have to do is tap into the existing ductwork. If they have to run ducts, the cost goes up a lot.

The previous owners of our house did.
Since they did it the year before they sold the house and it's under warranty, we have all the paperwork for it.
We have an almost 3600 sq ft home and it cost $14k
(the house is also an older house - built in 1955)
