Has anyone done pizza for a home party?
We are having C3's party at home, mostly adults and a few kiddies. I feel like we always do the same food (hero and ziti) so DS' favorite food is pizza.
I am just concerned about it staying hot and fresh....and we would have to pick it up as the place we like doesn't deliver.
Is it worth it? TIA!

Depending on the age and number of your guests, why not make it a create your own pizza party. Little kids as young as two can put sauce, cheese on their pizza and then the adults can make gourmet pizzas from a topping bar you set up. Will probably cost less than ordering pizzas and make your party fun!

We did that for Nate's 1st Birthday. We were going to BBQ, but it rained, so we just ordered pizza and wings. DH picked it up and I just put it in the oven on like 200 until we were ready to eat. It was so easy clean up afterwords.

Re: Has anyone done pizza for a home party?
We did it for DSs bday last year. I had just had my 2nd baby 2 weeks before and wasn't about to go crazy feeding 50 people. We ordered lots of pies and I made a salad. It was August, outside and we had it delivered but it was fine....still hot. Just have someone pick it up when you are actually READY to eat, not before and you should be fine!

That's a cute idea, but I think we may have too many people and I don't know that my family would like that

IF you have a pizza stone, you can heat it and then leave the pizza on it, the pizza stays warmer longer and the crust doesnt get mushy

Re: Has anyone done pizza for a home party?
We did pizza, homemade baked ziti & meatballs for DS 1st bday---my sisters went to pick up the pizzas after the party started so we had appetizers first and when the pizza arrived everyone was ready to eat, so there was no need to keep it warm.

We had pizza, cold cuts, and salad for DSs birthday. It was fine--our place delivered, but you could put it in the oven.
Most kids seem to like pizza, so it's a good choice for a child's birthday party.

We did it since we had a Higglytown Heros Party and they love Pizza Guy. They delivered it 30 minutes after the party started, but you could get it right before the party and put in a warm oven.

My family always does pizza for our family parties. They send someone to get it and we eat as soon as it gets here.

Same here. It is fast, easy and a crowd pleaser.

Re: Has anyone done pizza for a home party?
Thanks Ladies! I think that's what we are going to do.
Now, those do who did it, how many pies did you get and did you get some with toppings or just all cheese?

I can answer what my family does.
Depending on how many ppl. would determine how many actual pies I would get.
Crowd pleasers are always: Plain (esp. for the kiddies - have them cut the slices in half) Sicilian Half meatball/Half Pepperoni (or one full of each)
Also they usually get a salad on the side.
HTH!

Re: Has anyone done pizza for a home party?
Definitely get pizza! I love being a guest and having pizza as the main course! Get a few plain, a sicilian, maybe a pepperoni/meatball and a veggie of some sort and you're golden.

Re: Has anyone done pizza for a home party?
I did for DD's second birthday. It was an afternoon kid's party but we did have it delivered. Can you send a relative or friend to pick it up during the party just before it's time to eat?
