Gross...

Since we have so many "bring your dogs into store threads"....here goes my story...Chat Icon

My dh works for Sleepy's in Roosevelt Field and had a customer come in yesterday carrying a little teacup yorkie. She put the dog down on a $3,000 mattress and the dog peed.Chat Icon
She apologized and her husband cleaned it up as best as he could but the mattress was ruined. My dh and his boss had to remove it from the floor when they left.

Another reason why animals shouldn't be brought into stores.

She did buy the bed...so that made my dh feel a little bit better...Chat Icon

Re: Gross...

so gross

and to add- I was at woodbury commons this weekend- and there was a dog in the Tory Burch Store

I was so grossed out- I left with out buying anything

the dog was not very cute- in fact - it was kind of scary looking- and it ruined my shopping mood

Re: Gross...

Thats nasty. Does sleepy's have a sign in the windo that says no pets allowed? Because if they don't then that means they welcome animals of all kinds, didn't y ou know?

Doesn't Roosevelt Field have a no pets sign outside? I would think that means all the stores in RF.Chat Icon

We went to Tanger Outlets this weeked and while we were at the food court, some woman walked her dog into the food court while there is a No Dogs Allowed sign on the door.

Re: Gross...

Totally disgusting! Buying it was the least they could do.

I think the sign for no dogs applies to the whole mall. Not just for the "walkways". Chat Icon

Re: Gross...

Glad she bought the bed - it was the right thing to do.

But again, its a great example of how animals can pose a health risk to the general public. We would all be kidding ourselves if we didn't think it was a risk. It is - too bad if ya don't like it. What if nobody saw the dog pee and someone touched it accidentally? I would be pretty damn skeeved.

On a side note, I wouldnt blame the dogs for the irresponsibility and thoughtlessness of their owners. I think there is an element of human personality and behavior that has to do with self-centered-ness and entitlement. No, you are not entitled to bring your animal with you whereever you go simply because YOU have decided to humanize it.

Similarly, I have seen people change their HUMAN children on top mattresses and furniture at department stores (i.e. JC Penney) when if they simply took the time to walk 20 feet behind them, they would find a bathroom with a changing station where it is MOST appropriate and private to change your child. I think children deserve the same privacy as adults do when they need to be changed or use facilities.

But AGAIN, I will say, as a former dog owner many years ago, NEVER did my family EVER find it necessary to bring our dog inside of public places when we were out for the day. And this was BEFORE leash laws existed. You just didn't do it. It was called common courtesy.

I know right. I made my DH grab the pack with a tissue and bring it to the CS counter. I just couldn't leave that nasty thing there. The girl at the desk practically gagging when he told her. I hope they didn't put it back at the end of the day or something.
