Weren't 4-5 out of the 7 cops on the scene black? I think only one was white. I don't think this was a racial issue of white cops against black citizens. It may be an issue of some of the PD, or those particular cops, even though they were black, having a negative view of young black men, but I don't even know at this point. They may have had a justified reason for shooting, and if they didn'ta irresponsible policework and poorly made split second decisions do not necessarily equate to racism.

This was a big case before Sharpton got involved. THat morning I was up periodically in the early hours and NY1 was reporting on it every 5 minutes. They never mentioned it as a racial incident, they also never mentioned the number of shots fired at first.

Is everyone forgetting that INSIDE the club, the "bouncer" who's friend was killled, was armed inside the club and that the cop INSIDE the club witnessed him vow to a dancer to "take care of the situation" while rubbing his gun? The only guy to get away from the cops was this bouncer, suddenly he's not quick to step up to the situation.
The undercover cop knew he was armed, called for backup, they came at him and the cops protected themselves.

It's very sad that a man was shot multiple times and we can all argue "excessive force" but the truth is is that none of were there, none of us are trained to react in the situation and thank God for the NYPD b/c while there are horrific events that happen every few years when you take a look at all the crimes the prevent and protect us from they're doing a hell of a job for being understaffed and underpaid.

I agree with you, but its not worth it to argue. People are going to keep saying that these were "good people" and all of that bull, but in reality, they were in a strip club, at 4am with guns. End of story. And I think its crap to keep saying..." oh they didnt know they were cops" PLEASE. They didnt care who they ran over.
The whole story is just ridiculous.

Why does the fact that they were customers in a strip club make them bad people. ONE guy had a gun allegedly, and he worked there! Many MANY people who work in night clubs carry. It may not be right, but becuase of the tremendous flow of cash they do.

You are entitled to your opinon, but to say that we don't agree with you is "crap" is just as bad as some of the earlier comments.

None of the reports I heard match up with this? Where did you get this info from?

I think the issue is not if they were "good people" ....It doesnt matter. Even BAD people dont deserve to die unless they are in the midst of trying to kill someone else. They werent trying to kill anyone.

They hit an undercover cop with their car....probably drunk, on accident , whatever and tried to get away.....The Cop wasnt severly hurt ....It wasnt a reason to be SHOT dead.

If the cops were soooooo nervous about what happened inside the club, why didnt they approach them?

Were they wrong to try to get away, OF COURSE....did they deserve to die for it....NO....

Now the problem is everyone is gonna see things differently. Some of us believe the cops acted with too much power, because they HAVE power.

I think they were 100% wrong in their actions. I am scared to think of their power being used in this way. And Im scared to tohink armed cops are allowed to drink alcohol on the job.

BUT....I understand some of you will believe that they felt I guess that their lives were all endanger or because these people were "bad" they deserved to get shot at for hitting the cop.....

The one thing we all CAN agree on , is no one is going to change the other ones mind....

So lets talk about the facts, NOT rumors and see if we can see why we all disgree....

I understand, but if they had no warrants out & had not done anything that night, or were not under suspicion for any crimes does it make it all OK?

The POINT is, they were criminals. You can argue that as much as you want. But they were, and I think that says a lot about what the cops MAY have been dealing with.
I think that is what she is trying to say.

yes, they were...

"Around the same time, the undercover said he heard Bell's friend Joseph Guzman tell his buddies, "Yo, get my gun! Get my gun! Let's get my gun from the car! Yeah, we're gonna f- - - him up!" the sources said"

that is why the officer followed them to the car in the first place....

Honestly, I can't even fathom talking about this anymore. Until new information comes out, it is going to be a round and round argument. Nothing changed since yesterday.

My feelings remain the same.

Alrighty I am going to get involved in this post...I don't know why. Most likely boredom!

A) I don't care if you have a rap sheet or not, everyone is this world has had a lapse of judgement at one time or another.

B) Excessive violence is excessive violence, no matter what.

c) We will never know the truth of what actually transpired so we people need to stop passing on judgement on the victim and on the NYPD
1) Are you not going to call 911 anymore when you are distressed due to fear of the cops excessive force...no
2) Are you going to run accross the street everytime you see an African American man outside a bar...no

As for my opinion on the matter.. My opinion is that I really have no opinion because I wasn't there. In this case, there are four sides to this story.

1. The cops' viewpoint
2. The perps' viewpoint
3. The media's spin
4. The truth, which we will never know

I do question the use of so many firearms, but again, I wasn't there and I don't know all of what really went down.

I know that if I saw someone reaching for a gun or trying to ram me with a car - I'd start shooting wildly.

Actually no 4-5 out of 7 weren't black ... Second Every RADIO station especially 97.1 107.5 105.1 are claiming it is.
